Re: solid brake pedal

I had the same issue, not on a minor though. I was messing with the master cylinder trying to get less pedal travel. After driving a few miles the car come to a stop with a pressurised system and solid pedal, readjusting to give some pedal free play released the pressure and normal braking returned....

Re: 2 door VAE 306H

I may have to splash out on a new alternator, the one on the car is the wrong hand but it was new and we had it so we cobbled some brackets to make it fit, I'm not very happy with it though, may see what alternatives there are out there that put out at least 50 Amps (it has heated seats and he want...

Re: New Member!

Welcome to the forum.
I had to do a double take on the last photo, it took me back to the 70’s, but seeing the satellite dish on the house brought me back up to date.
As others have said, I wish you many happy years and memorable journeys together.

Thanks for the tip Bowie, for a few months I’ve been getting a blue banner at the bottom about accepting cookies, which kept reappearing after pressing accept. Your reply prompted me to have a look and deleting the cookies from the foreign eBay sites (eBay.com, eBay.fr, eBay.au, etc) fixed my issue....

PhilAllen
You’re right the text of pdf page No 233 doesn’t correspond with the image of plate M1 or M2.
But look what I’ve found:-

There should be plate M2 and M2.1
As you say it needs someone with the latest paper copy.

Re: Original battery earth terminal mount

I once operated the starter motor on a Ford Cortina or Anglia and the metal fuel pipe started glowing red. Likely no prop shaft fitted or that may have been enough to carry the current (still not a good idea to use gears/shafts (and possibly bearings) as an earth path. That must be the reason why t...

Re: Temperature Gauge false reading.

I think there has been a misunderstanding, the 1/2V(half V) bezel has been interpreted as a 12 Volt gauge. The gauge is 10 Volts and should have it’s supply through a stabiliser. As it makes no difference at the moment when the gauge is supplied via the stabiliser suggests the stabiliser is faulty g...

I think there is a good chance it could be a Traveller roof.

Thanks for posting the photos, the pickup looks good, and nice to see an Austin badged van.
