Re: Front Wheel Bearings
I can't see the need -I have never had the slightest problem with standard Minor wheel bearings - never had to fit a new one. Well, its fair to say I wouldnt change a wheel bearing unless it needed it and I am probably in the majority there, having never changed any wheel bearing on a Morris Minor a...

Re: Front Wheel Bearings
I have got tappered bearings in my front hubs and I had the same in my last car and no problems. Other Morrie owners in NZ use them as well. I recently changed them and still have the old boxes in my garage so could dig out the bearing numbers. When fitting the taper roller bearings what other mods...

Re: diff oil leak
If it tightens and seals agreed, if it still leaks then you could keep tightening till something cracks or fit a bit of thread tape.bmcecosse wrote:It is taper - it does not need thread tape......

He said the bolt is loose, not the nut.bmcecosse wrote:I would like to see how this 'spring and standard washer ' are going to help when the captive nut has broken loose ??

Re: Gearbox cross member bolts
If the thread in the captive nut or the bolt is not damaged I would be tempted to fit a standard and spring washer on the bolt heads to help combat vibration that may shake them loose over time. Better than loctite as you may want to remove it easily one day. But I would check for thread damage first.

Re: diff oil leak
Hi folks have noticed a very slight leak from the diff, the nut at the bottom is leaking, any way of recifying this??? Pete That nut is a plug. :D If its a taper thread tighten it, if it still leaks drain the oil by removing said plug and add ptfe (plumbers) thread tape to the plug thread, wind it on...

Re: fuel catalyst
Assuming you mean the 'bag of tin balls in the tank' or in-line type, then they're almost universally regarded as snake oil. If you want to use some form of additive, it'd be better to stick to FBHVC approved products (most use Castrol Valvemaster). I tried snake oil once, I got an irresistable urg...

Before anything it may be worthwhile measuring the the old bearing against the new, also if its a taper roller how far did you back off the castle nut after adjustment?

My missus loves our Minor, as an experienced driver but having never driven it and watching me Sunday, easing the choke back as the engine warmed, changing in to second gear prior to first at a standstill to ease the no synchro issue, braking earlier, keeping a greater distance than we would in the Hon...

Re: temp gauge wiring
The single wire going to the fuel gauge should be a 'lighter' green...... I Did get to look at this this morning. I have a green and red cable and a mid green cable to the fuel gauge,(after I had wiped the dust gathered over 47 years off anyway) I attached the gauge cable to the striped item and go...

Almost there, but puzzled by the "attach the cable from the temperature gauge to the light green wire".
My photo shows a veritable platoon of green wires, all mid green.
Can anyone point me towards which one please?[frame][/frame]
