Nope not banded, a product of a 60's tuning firm I think. Minor centres with 5 1/2" rims grafted on -and the colour is Bermuda Blue

The only stuff I can think of is Sugru, but it's not a two park mix but air setting and sold in little sachets. Good product though.

OK the wire with the black stripe is on the coil negative terminal.

Must have been changed at the gauge for some reason. Did you see my edit of my last post, check the LT wires on the coil. Just read it, you would have thought if them wires was on the wrong way, something wouldn't work? Apparently not with 'normal' ignition parts but it did affect that particular p...

That's odd, it shouldn't do when swapped over to neg earth
The two wires on the coil should have been swapped over as well, someone recently had a problem fitting an electronic dizzy when it wouldn't start - because the wires hadn't been swapped when the polarity was reversed.

Not done it myself yet but you can separate the exhaust side of the manifold with a hacksaw in the 'hot spot' being careful not to cut too far back so ending up with an open end.
