the adjusting masks do not affect the adjusters the adjustment is caused by the cam on the snail as you turn the snail it travels up and down the slot so the mask just locates the adjuster i think anyway

If they dont go into oilways where is the oil coming from as i dont think any oil goes into the head. Where did you get new studs from.

Hi all Changed head gasket on my car just over two weeks ago after gasket went had a problem with one of the studs pulling out of the block when tourqueing it down,helicoiled it and got the head back on. Done my tappets after getting tappet spanners came to conclusion that it was a b****r of a job and may have been easier hanging from the rafters and with an extra arm grafted on let us know if it works and post on a few pics

Don't forget I think it may be easier to hang from the rafters when adjusting the valves on a side valve let us all know if successful as i have not tried myself yet

We have been trying since getting car to come up with Gaelic name appropiate for 53 MM, I am at disadvantage in that I am not Irish but have had my wife and daughter trying to think up names in Irish on and off

Be prepared to find your tank looks and acts like a tea stainer I derusted the outside of my tank and found a few holes soldered them up painted and refitted filled with petrol and a week later found another 2 holes sealed them up and touch wood all seems OK now

I found the correct tappet spanners @ www.whitworthspanners.com/ along with sets of whitworth spanners and sockets as well also have for sale other old tools for cars tappets can be done insitu but is easier if you suspend yourself from roof of garage
