Re: Engine recon

Atleast you know whats been done. For the price they charge, they cant do much to a 'recon' engine. I doubt they rebore them, or fit new pistons, or do things like remove and check the cam etc.

Do a search on here, plenty of threads about how to do it! Basically knock off, turn round one spline.

Re: Morris Minor Workshop recommended at dealer?

Out of 73 views, it is pretty unlikely even one of them will have purchased a car from this particular dealership. Most are after all purchased privately. Or from one of the larger mm specialists. Most people like myself have looked as the title is somewhat confusing and could be one of many things!

Ready modified master cylinders are already available if anyone doesn't fancy dismantling theirs, or is worried they may remove/damage something else etc

Re: Bell housing ID

Looks likely. A bigger picture! and of the side of the bellhousing might help more. Early 5 speeds were just a minor one, with a metal plate welded on in effect.

You appear to have twin carbs fitted too though, does this mean you have a standard manifold cut in half? Or maybe a cast marina/midget one?

Re: Bonnet Conversion

If your that stressed or worried about it, just take to a minor specialist to do! They should get it spot on! And if not, they will have to fork out to get it re-done!

Re: Piping on Custom Paint Minor

Why not just filler them over, go for that nice smooth custom look. Because then it makes a mess if you have to replace a wing. If fully repainting a car though, I presume it will currently have very solid wings! And surely this would help eliminate the very common rust trap between the body and wi...

Re: How much to tighten up rear u bolts?

Indeed. I have 7 leaf springs and lowering blocks on my saloon. Looks and drives a treat. bmcecosse. I'm curious as to why you suggest tightening the u-bolts when the suspension is loaded? With the wheels on the ground, the u-bolts are in tension, making it very difficult to tighten the nuts. Why d...

Re: What is the difference between dynamo and alternator

There is a reason all modern cars have alternators, just saying... Also i'd rather not break down, than break down then probably be able to fix it..
Also if you do lots of shortish journeys, especially at night, then just running a dynamo can leave you with a flat, potentially damaged battery.

A rather nice cylinder head

First of all apologise for the poor picture, only had my phone, but I know we all love pictures... http://gallery.myff.org/gallery/1382277/03122008703.jpg As you can see its a dohc 16valve pentroof chamber, 8 port head for an aseries. Remarkably its all machined out of a solid alloy billet (not cast...

most garages will rip you off horribly for this simple task...... Define rip you off... It all depends how long it takes, and what equipment they have how long it will take!! Also making your own gauges does not allow for run out, which almost all minor wheels will have to a considerable degree by ...

I saw it too, hence stating it was an hs4.. And this is just a well uprated car, making it more useable everyday. Non of the modifications listed so far are that unusual tbh, so i cant see sourcing parts being an issue! This happens on all cars though, as 'transition models' had a random mix of part...
