it would be no more work to fit a lighter, newer, better engine, probably cheaper too. Certainly be better for handling.

Re: Fitting hazard lights kit

The older, better quality hazard kits had a multi-pole switch that disconnected the indicator feed when the hazards were on. This ensured that power could not flow back into the other circuits. Looking at the current offerings, I have not been able to find any detailed specification to confirm how ...

MattsGPOVan: do you do this for a living looks professional quality? Jagnut, what is the difference between a retained pensioner and a pensioner? Did the GPO make them turn up every so often to do something? A few of my friends put up with a lot at BT because they were on the final salary pension bu...

It's not e-scooters it's the idiots and inconsiderate people that ride them. Ditto pushbikes, BMWs, careless dog owners... If people are thoughtful and considerate none of these things cause problems in use, it's the people that are the problem. Banning e-scooters will just mean they find another wa...

Re: Quarter light vent

I've been looking for pictures for when I did the same. Good glass fitted to stainless surround. Rather than forcing solid rubber anywhere, I used tiger-seal/sikaflex/mirrormate type stuff. Much easier. If I can get the pictures across, you'll see them below. If doing the same again, I'd use a black...

I have a theory that the amount of lecturing others about environment is directly proportional to the amount of air travel one takes. Woke Hollywood A listers & Princes Harry & Charles taking private jets to environmental conferences being at the top of the pile. Private jets make a signific...

Re: EBAY SCAMMER AT IT AGAIN

The scam problem is like ‘trying to rub out all the rude words on all the toilet doors in the world’ Its not possible. Awareness is the only way to tackle the problem. That's like saying hospitals are trying to get rid of all the sickness in the world, it's not possible so why bother. Every scammer...

Re: Problems getting firm brake pedal with silicone fluid

From whereabouts on the caliper? Could just need the hose union or bleed nipple need tightening. If it's leaking from the pistons send it back for a replacement. If you get a brake hose clamp you can remove the caliper without having to re-bleed the whole system. I'd be inclined to pull out the pist...

Re: Bare Metal Restoration

As TrickyDicky above states, epoxy primer from Rust.co.uk. Most primers are porous, epoxy isn't. It goes off by chemical reaction rather than evaporation (well a bit of both technically) so even thick coats in cold weather will go hard properly. It's expensive but good. And it's a bit of an art work...

The only 'MOT information' wanted here would be from the reasons for failure part - not personal details. It might say something like, "Excessive play in front suspension", or "corrosion around rear suspension mounting" or "Jedward CD found in radio" or "Exhaust pi...

Re: Pins in tyres

I suspect I know why nobody's mentioned this but DO report it to the police. Tampering with tyres could cause a dangerous accident. It migh not be just your car they are targeting. I'll pass on what the police said to me when I had a bicycle vandalised at the station. and they saw me walking it home...

Re: Which Tracker SIM Card ???

I use a giffgaff sim in a Tk103 tracker off Ebay. If the tracker is so picky would it be worth upgrading? The Tk103 is only £20 or less on Ebay these days. Chinglish but does the job. Having my main mobile also on giffgaff the texts are free and the sim costs about £5 a month I think. One thing tha...

Buy from reputable sources Eg VehicleWiringProducts or carbuildersolutions.

In terms of what you're stuck with, sandpapering the ends will reveal the colour underneath.

Re: Steering wheel, and B post seat belt anchorage. Safety improvement without destroying character? Ideas appreciated.

To my bemusement my belt reel is attached to the inside surface of the sill, rather than the floor, and when I jiggle it a bit, the entire organisation moves, as the sill bends. The sill has no real structural strength (I already knew that), so it seems a ridiculous place to mount it (I thought it ...

I don't like orange smarties. I don't even like smarties that have touched orange smarties as they get tainted with the chemical chocolatey orange taste. So I thought I would share on here.

Re: Steering wheel, and B post seat belt anchorage. Safety improvement without destroying character? Ideas appreciated.

There are seats from other manufacturers which have seatbelts built in to the seat. I had R129 Mercedes SL seats in my Minor bolted to large reinforcements in the floor. But they left no room for rear passenger legs. Also the middle front seat of a Fiat multipla. All quite heavy so need a reinforced...
