Re: Speeding offences just changed

If people undertake surely that's a sign you're in the wrong lane, remember the old saying," keep to the left, except when overtaking" ? I have done it frequently because some people seem to think they own lanes 2 or 3... John  ( not really Officer ) Many thanks for that advice, but I...

Speeding offences just changed

Doing just one mile an hour over 30 now becomes an offence in a 30 mile an hour zone and is just one example of the extensive tightening of speeding offences (I wonder how accurate my original Morris Minor speedo is ! ) No more of the old 'within 10%' as the speeding guideline tolerance allow...

Re: reproduction rear light bases on a 67 saloon dont fit !!

Presumably that is the larger sized later rear light pattern. The universal problem is that the original base moulding was cast in 'Masak' metal , a particular alloy recipe , as you may already be aware. My originals were also very badly pitted so any autojumble I attend has always meant a search fo...

This will allow me to get to the brake master cylinder without destroying the carpet.

(Carpet left unstuck for access to the lubrication point for the steering rack also of course )

Re: Traffic Census !!!

My original point was the observation that the person employed taking the census on that day seemed to lack what I regarded as sufficient training and method of approach on how and and why questions were' asked' . I think that it should be explained that the answers to various questions including yo...

Re: No messing

Don't know which is the lesser of two evils Non working headlight or the amazing number of out of focus headlight beams encountered on a nightly basis . Usually on one headlight blindingly dazzling coming towards you at night. It seem too many D.I.Y replacements are installed out of position without...

Ambassador model, a sad story.

Some said it had to happen eventually. When Hindustan Motors in India 'bit the dust' in 2014 following diminished sales of the iconic 'Morris Oxford' based shape design version by Hindustan Motors the Ambasssador saloon seen in everyday use there. It has apparently resulted in over a thousand car wo...

Re: 4 door rear handle removal ?

It should be perfectly possible to remove the rear handle without removing the window frame. Funnily enough I've just done mine. The front ones are a different matter and the frame does have to be removed first! On the rear doors, removal of the interior trim panel should reveal some larger screws ...

I'm still none the wiser ...ah well ignorance is bliss. :D A series of long and repetitive 'spam' type posts that recently managed to appear for a time on this forum and they looked to me to be written in Russian. (Sorry if I confused, this should really be a subject for Mods to deal with for membe...

Re: Carbural fuel treatment, Old garage equipment

Re your original question concerning the applicator gun. Surely some others remember these ? Particularly through the 60's similar idea ones were commonly to be seen on show at all filling station forcourts (very often Redex) they were a standard feature and designed mainly for petrol fourcourt use....

Re: Traffic Census !!!

I think that the authors of that need training in the use of plain English! It's like something from 'Yes Minister'. Aha..... So this is the explanation in this officianado document in the grid table labelled 'socioeconomic groups' why I was asked for my household earnings by that census guy !! ?? ...

Re: Seat belts

I said your initial discription sounded a bit 'odd' because it sounded like the seat belts might have beeen fixed to the actual handbrake mechanism !!! But as you clarify now it sounds that they are actually fixed each side through the transmission tunnel (solid metal) So should be no worries at all...

Re: Seat belts

That sounds odd ! Or do you mean the transmission tunnel adjacent each side of the handbrake fixing point? The centre sections of an original design of the Minor fixed belt normally go each to triangular shaped 'swivelling' floor plate plates bolted through the floor. ( Drivers side belt go back to ...

Re: Traffic Census !!!

Yes this happened last Autumn when the roads in our area are at absolute maximum gridlock in our area anyway. But when you are asked to agree to be labelled to be put in a 'box' as a particular socioeconomic group or class ,either an A-B-C1-C2 D or E for some reason then I declined the invitation.

Re: 4 door rear handle removal ?

Thank you gentlemen - did finally manage to access a later manual page (issue 3, that then includes 4door) and would lead anyone working on the rear door (like me) that you follow exactly the same procedure as the front doors . I.e "after removing the glass assembly" Could not really see w...
