A common problem with Minor steering racks. You can overhaul the Minor steering rack yourself. Overhauling usually comprises of adjusting the shimming at either end of the rack and possibly the re-shimming the removeable knuckle on the end of the rack. the engine is standard, Ivor Searle have confirmed that

I have a 1275cc with a single 1 1/2 HIF
Idle is rough and I need run it at 1300 plus
It has a low tech electronic ignition which uses points and an lcb exhaust and k & n filter
What should it idle at ?

I think I will give it a go
I know somone mentioned marking the nut and tightening it back up to that point. Whats the thoughts on that ? I dont believe I have 13ftlbs drag at the moment as it spun quite easily on the bench but I thought I would leave well alone

So,fitted the replacement diff and seems ok, no noises ,however it has a slight leak from the pinion seal. Whats the easiest way to solve this given that I buggered up the last one by over tightening the nut when I followed the instructions in the manual and this video If you watch from 24 mins you ...
