Re: EBAY SCAMMER AT IT AGAIN

I know I'm putting my head above the parapet...…. I have absolutely no time whatsoever for the pernicious scumbags who perpetrate these obvious scams but there is a part of me that does wonder how much responsibility the victim has to accept if they get fleeced out of hundreds, if not thousands, of ...

Re: My daily driver - 1954 Split screen 803cc

https://www.mmoc.org.uk/Messageboard/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=30885&start=2080 Is this the one in this thread that you are referring to Biggles? (scroll down about a third of the way). I snapped it at the De Vere Tortworth Court Hotel in August last year. I was told that every De Vere hotel had ...

Re: Black watery exhaust emissions

Thanks for your comments everyone. It never occurred to me about modern cars being fitted with cats - Dhoh! Have I just made that up about the engine running a bit rich if black deposits come out of the exhaust? Spent nearly all morning putting my garage floor jigsaw together. It's well on the way n...

Black watery exhaust emissions

After trying the full range of garage floor paints, all of which proved to be only marginally better than useless, I am just about to lay a new garage floor using those hard rubber tiles that all fit together like a giant jigsaw puzzle. I'm hoping this will be a 'once and for all' solution. Naturall...

Re: Amber warning beacon

Why do I find it difficult to belive you're joking  I know what you mean but you never know these days who is going to misconstrue or be upset by (particularly) the written word. To be fair, I don't see it much on this forum so I was probably thinking of another completely different, football ...

Re: Amber warning beacon

Well spotted Chief ! Correct on both counts - the roof is indeed a 'Webasto-style' fold back roof. I say that because I don't think it's an actual Webasto. It does not show the name anywhere and does not appear to be quite of the same quality. I had a Webasto fitted to an MGBGT and it was just a bit...

Re: Amber warning beacon

My power socket arrived this morning - with an apology, by the way, for the delay but I only ordered it on Sunday night! Anyway, I fitted it this afternoon (sited it on the off-side, under the parcel shelf a couple of inches back from the front edge and earthed it to the p/s securing bolt), plugged ...

Re: Amber warning beacon

Mine arrived yesterday and I can confirm it 'clamps' very securely onto the metalwork without any risk of damage to the paintwork because of the powerful and rubber-covered magnets. I haven't fitted it to my Moggy yet as I'm still waiting for the power socket/wiring/in-line fuse to arrive...….hopefu...

Re: 'Smart' motorways

Just voted 'yes'. As a bit of an aside, I picked up from another thread on here that, in the event of emergency, i.e. breakdown/accident, it is possible to have a 'sort of' hazard flasher system as under:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/24LED-Amber-Warning-Strobe-Flashing-Light-Recovery-Magnetic-Beacon-...

Re: carpet underfelt

It was the latex-backed felt that I used. It might be my imagination but I think it looks slightly thicker than the one without the backing. Also - and probably only a marginal advantage - it's a bit less 'fluffy' when applying it, as the latex backing does hold the fibres together. As I mentioned i...

Re: carpet underfelt

Something like this, I would say: https://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/product/ ... ening-felt That's exactly the stuff I used from Woolies...….and it's very, very good - certainly as far as sound-deadening goes. I doubt it will be much good if you're looking for something with water-proofing qualities. ...

Re: Euphemisms

What’s automatic braking? Sounds dangerous ! If this is what is being referred to then I've got it in my Honda Jazz! Allegedly - because I've never actually put it to the test - the car is supposed to brake automatically at low speeds to avoid a rear-end shunt with the car in front. In certain circ...

Re: Mystery Overheating

The water issuing forth was very rusty - I wonder if some crud had blocked up the cooling system which was then blown out when the temperature rose and opened the rad cap? I recon it was that. Something similar happened to me in a Triumph Herald many moons ago. Bit to early to blame it on Brexit, I...

Re: Windows steaming up.......

Funny you should mention opening the 2 rear windows slightly, because my car is fitted with a Webasto-style sun roof and that's what I have to do to avoid the 'booming' and allow air to flow through the car. Come to think of it, opening the roof in winter, would stop the misting up but I'd have to p...

Funnily enough I saw that and was thinking of posting something similar. Beat me to it.

I think the price is about right......it's just that the decimal point needs to be moved 2 digits to the left. :D
