Re: Triumph 1500 engine & autobox transplant
Everybody will say something like "the crank bearings are weak" etc but auto's don't suffer the same so mine is a viable option for a transplant. The auto means there's less wear on the thrusts, and with the Minor being quite light the bottom end shouldn't be under so much pressure maybe,...

Triumph 1500 engine & autobox transplant
I know what the immediate reaction to this thread will be - forget and source a 1275 unit with autobox out of a Marina. Well I've already got a low mileage (40,000 genuine) unit out of a HLS Dolomite sitting in the garage and it's got me thinking. Everybody will say something like "the crank be...

I wasn't implying you were :D Having been working on my '67 all day, I too know what comprehensive rot is, that's all... :( Sorry - I wasn't aiming my reply at your comments so please don't take offence. I've had projects before that I'd said to myself they will be on the road in x period of time o...

New "project"
I haven't long got back from collecting the totally rotten Tourer that was advertised on this web site. First off thanks to seller, Chris, for letting me have it cheap and second thanks to Lee for the loan of his trailer. Only problem was first time I built up speed on motorway - the roof shreded ! ...

Members area access
I've just joined the club and this morning had the info pack together with the current copy of Minor Matters.
Anyone give me a clue where, in the magazine, I'll find the usename and password for access to the memebrs area of this web site ?
Thanks.
Paul Humphries.

Jig making - not roll over type
Hopefully, if all goes well, I should be collecting my Tourer project on Friday. I already know it's very rusty and don't expect many of the panels will escape replacement or attention. It's destined to be a very long term project and I intend stripping down to just a bare bodyshell rather then tryi...

Whole floor panel
I know you can get 1/4 and 1/2 floor repair panels but does anyone manufacture a complete floor panel. It seems pointless to "patchwork" 2 or 4 panels in place when one is going to be far neater. I know all strength will be lost and that is why people normally just replace one at a time bu...

I've been thinking about the 1.4 / 1.5 Peugeot unit used in the Metro. Very cheap to buy a complete running vehicle. Gearbox would take some adapting but not a problem for me as I like a challenge. BTW I've read FWD Vauxhall units are easy to convert to RWD - use Manta gearbox / flywheel as the bell...
