Re: Spax upgrade?

It looks like you could remake the upper bracket to have a higher mounting point for the damper so that it is vertical and still has enough ravel.

Re: Treating rust chips and spots

I suppose a compromise might be to look for the first crease and mask at that point so that any difference in shade looks natural. Eg bottom of the door where it changes from flat to curving in. Maybe at a pinch, the rear door edge from curve to flat though difficult to get perfect

Wasn't the Minor in your signature picture stolen? Did you ever get it back?

I had a good time at the show too, so I second the thanks to those within the MMOC that organise our Nationals each year.
Best wishes,
Mike.
Yes it was stolen. No it never turned up.

Re: National Rally 2022

Upon wondering around the campsite and spotting the red double-fronted Minor with my young daughter I said, "Look! a backwards forwards Minor". She was more concerned about where the Falcons were being kept. The next day, Saturday, when we did a full look around the Minors she wondered out...

Re: Four Door Saloon

Just to add to this, many years ago (more than 9) I was talking to two people at the National and my wife joined in the conversation. Then the next day She saw them again and invited them in to our food tent for tea or coffee and put our water container onto a peg and broke it. So we talked for a wh...

Re: Disc brakes for lower maintenance?

There's a reason cars aren't built with drums at the front anymore. As for the standard brakes being able to lock all 4 wheels, I've never experienced that and if they do then perhaps only once after which they fade dangerously. More importantly, unless you live in the middle of nowhere and don't en...

Re: Four Door Saloon

I've only had 2 doors because that's what was cheapest back then.

But, apart from getting in and out, would you know which one you were driving when out and about?

Morris Minor National

I'm probably being stupid but I can't find anything anywhere about what events are happening at this years National - other than the Saturday night event.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks

There's a motorbike youtube channel that explains it quite well.

I like sodium lights when they first come on and are warming up since they are red. Once they go orange they don't look so nice to me. Plus less energy with LED

Re: Advice needed on how to decide on modified morris minors.

There are a couple of deliniations that might make sense. Firstly, safety. Added seatbelts rear inertia instead of static, radial tyres in place of original crossply, improved brakes, hazard lights. Seems wrong to punish for making your car safer. Secondly within the BMC family. Eg Midget or Marina ...

The 50 year old oil that comes out is really stinky in my experience. Don't let it get on you.

Re: War on Motorists

I see both sides. My wife's life has been blighted by respiratory problems. She grew up in a coal-fired terraced house in inner Manchester. Her parents smoked, the house smoked, if she went outside for a breath of fresh air, outside smoked! Clean air is a laudable aim. But why do measures aiming fo...

Re: Do you guys feel safe driving your Moggy??

There are so many factors at play. For example motorbikes are still sold and probably not much safer in a collision than 1940s motorbikes - a Minor is a bit safer than those. In most if not all of inner London the speed limit is 20mph. With traffic, the actual speed is often even less so if you driv...

Safest thing seems to be to drive that yellow thing with the lump of concrete on the front then. It's been in loads of those NCAP videos and always seems to come out unscathed.

Different A series engines

Probably a really simple thing to those who know but something I have no experience of so here goes: How do the Mg 1100 and 1275 engines compare with the Minor's engine in terms of day to day performance, sound and characteristics? Eg Does the 1275 just feel like a Minor 1098 but with more oomph and...

Re: Introduction - and a question

Here's something to try. Go on Car and classic and for each make put 'van' in as a keyword and see what comes up. While Minor vans are fashionable and so pricy, other classic vans may not be. Lt us all know if you find something.
