Re: Spotted today.

Spotted a 55 in town last Thursday - not a Minor but a 1955 Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing! Million pound car.

Re: Speeding offences just changed

The only ticket I have had in 30 years was for doing 40mph. There was no visible signage and I was not in a built up area. I genuinely thought is was a 40 limit. (North Wales, land of the speed vigilante). I think that when roads have the white lines replaced the limit should also be stenciled on ev...

Re: Speeding offences just changed

Sadly another example of our inexorable march towards a surveillance state. You know, the sort of thing 'free' countries campaigned against. I do not condone speeding, but the way it is enforced totally fails to consider context. 80 mph on a deserted dry motorway - well why not? 25 mph past a school...

Did the diesel and soft hammer do the job?

Re: Marina van torsion bars

Soak in diesel for a couple of days, then use a soft hammer. Worked for me years ago. Using heat on torsion bar steel is not good.

Internal collapse or delamination of the flexible fuel hose? Seen that before and a dead cheap fix.

Re: They Just Can't Wait....

When I had my Minor back in the 80s, most of my mates had more modern 'faster' cars. Funny thing was that on a 50 mile journey on ordinary roads I'd arrive only a few minutes after them, having used less petrol and having spent much less time sprinting and braking. And I usually broke down far less ...

Re: Morris Minor Million for Sale eBay

A guy who lived round the corner from me back in the early 80s had a Million with the the reg MUP1. He stacked it in the trees down a local B road. A local classic friendly garage, now sadly closed, put a new roof on it. Cracking job, join not visible. Was sold on a few years ago.

LMAO - Ours is getting replaced this weekend because it's blown it's board. That's without car parts in as well. Perhaps an occasional cylinder head would have benefited it...

Described as a convertible for restoration? That's beyond wishful thinking.

Re: TDV102 - did it survive?

I know that the plate now resides on a BMW (Sacrilege unless it's a CSL 'Batmobile'). Will DVLA be able to cross refer to the replacement plate?

TDV102 - did it survive?

Anyone know how I can find what happened to my old minor after I sold it in 1987 and it's buyer sold the plate? I have no other info than the plate and the fact that it was a 1955 SII 2 door with a 948cc engine and in clarendon grey. It was doggy round the edges but essentially sound down the middle...

Re: Wishful thinking?

Just saw a very tidy looking 52 go for £6300, and older restoration still in good nick - realistic price. Some good deals are out there. Watching for a dealer to relist it at £8k plus...

Re: yet another wasted journey !!!

Living 'up north' I'm finding it very difficult to find what I want (S2 2 door) - they all seem to be over 200 miles away. There's a tidy looking one on fleabay at what seems to be a nice price, but in Sussex. Last one I was interested in before that was near Aberdeen! The cost of travel and overnig...

Re: MM SII windscreen clips

When I next tidy my shed, I must look in my old tool box which is right at the back - I seem to remember I have a pair of these somewhere from 30+ years ago. I also have a SII Morris Minor bonnet badge somewhere. If/when I find them I'll list them.
