Re: Spotted today.

A friend saw this while on holiday "On the road to strumble head in West Wales.": http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs191.snc4/37889_1444847852624_1575979660_31070494_5099647_n.jpg anybody's? That's not far from where I live... if it's the place I've been told about, anyway. I'v...

Re: Is this a record?

Its near Pentregat, on the A470 just south of Aberystwyth, parked outside a house on tight corner. Someone has painted flowers on some of the panels. Was that you?

Re: Crossover? Crossflow?

No, I think he was actually teaching his apprentice, who knows nothing about classics and is eager to learn, because Gary and I have already got plans to put a 1275cc with a five speed gearbox and a 3.77 diff, which would by the sound of it totally obviate the necessity of crossflow.

Re: Is this a record?

What a weekend! Yesterday - to and from Dolgellau again - within ten minutes of each other, going in the same direction: OBO 636G, a white saloon, and VJU 872H, a green soft-top. Today, on the way to Pembroke Dock, a grey saloon, UMX 218F, and a grey Traveller, DBX 652C. They seem to be coming out o...

Re: Is this a record?

And - how are the big brakes ?????????????? Apparently, they are brilliant - haven't tried them out myself, yet, because Gary the engineer hasn't quite finished with Betsy, and she isn't MOT'd yet and is still SORN.... hopefully within the next couple of weeks I'll be able to report on them - and o...

Re: Crossover? Crossflow?

Because - the cost is massive.............. There are ways to pep up your engine that don't cost very much - but crossflow will be well into 4 figures! You missed something in my original post... ie, as I indicated, he actually said words to the effect of, "I'm not going to do that, though, it...

Is this a record?

I drove up from Pembrokeshire to Dolgellau on Monday. On the way back, I saw five minors... five! Two of them were old friends I always see parked up on that route - grey Saloon LVS 729 just south of Aberystwyth, and grey Traveller 310 BLX near Pentregat - but three were new to me: a green convertib...

Re: Crossover? Crossflow?

Crossflow heads for the A series are available but are mega expensive. Basically it means the inlets and exhausts are on opposite sides of the head rather than the same side as standard. Cheaper route is to fit a 1275 Marina / Midget / Ital engine... Okay... and that means what, exactly? I mean, I ...

Crossover? Crossflow?

The guy who is doing the skilled work on Betsy Blue has completely replaced the brakes (which I was assured were great) with a new Riley/Wolseley 1.5 system, and done the welding her previous owner also assured me wasn't needed. (Quote from Gary the engineer: "How did those brakes get through t...

the MG Owners' Club caters for numerous models (It was originally for post T Type stuff). Some may say it's Roche Bentley's business but he has helped make the MG scene (And to a large degree classic cars) what it is today. Many many years ago I worked for Roche Bentley, indirectly - and his brothe...

Re: Moggies in the Movies...

Saw one the other night in the BBC four film about John Lennon, starring Christopher Eccleston, "Lennon Naked".

As a signed-up saddo, I can tell you that it was a Clarendon Grey Morris 1000 (not sure if 2 or 4 door), and its index number was GHK 328B.

I can only drive it on our own track at Bo'ness. It's not cleared for main Line running - or fitted with the necessary equipment to allow use on the Main Line (black box etc etc). You do understand that trains run on rails........ not roads........ Do you actually mean "Our own track&qu...

Re: Spotted today.

On Saturday morning, saw a brown soft-top with a cream hood pootling round the M25 not far from the M1 turn-off. Didn't get the reg, and Mrs Ondergard wouldn't let me slow enough to allow the Mog to catch up.... anyone on here claim it?

Idle question from my son

... which, needless to say, I can't answer, but which has been bugging me! "Dad, if you wanted to make your Moggie as long-lasting as possible, couldn't you take everything off the body shell, strip the whole body shell down to bare metal in one go, including the doors and bootlid and bonnet an...

Re: Riley 1.5 brakes

Ok, update.... all the cylinders on the Riley brakes I bought on E-bay and off the For Sale board here were seized solid, so I had to source some more. Apparently, Riley 1.5's cylinders were made by Girling, and Wolseley 1500 by Lockheed. Needless to say, it turns out that the Girling cylinders are ...

Re: anyone in carmarthanshire can help with collecting a gearbox

Since everyone thinks a gearbox is quite light, and I should be able to get it into my car, then if you want to pm me, you can give me the details. I can probably pick it up in my Peugeot, take it home, then you can organise your courier to come to my house and pick it up. Working from home, I can b...
