I see there is a tear in the driver's seat but, depending on the condition of the other seats, it may be possible to mend that, give the seats some leather feed and re-colour the seats. I had a small tear in one of mine and took the cover off, glued a patch under it, used some leather repair filler ...

Not sure - I have a wider than usual pipe and its really loud!
Tweaking the throttle settings can make a difference.
Once I fitted a new exhaust and the sound was gone - but came back after a couple of hundred miles......no, I can't explain!

These can be a fiddle! I have done it but can't quite remember how! It may help to try with the QL at different stages of opening and a bradawl can help line up one hole while you get a screw in the other, but be careful. May also help with someone else pushing down on the QL while you try and line ...

Here is a rather sobering look round the actual 10, Rillington Place filmed in 1960. In fact looking at the old springs one leaf is actually thicker than all the others? Quite possible - who knows who had the car in the past and what they did......especially with a modest little car like the Minor. Plenty of owners find they have to 'undo' all sorts of bodges and dubious 'improveme...

A few years ago both my (old) front dampers began leaking, one after the other, and had to be replaced. But disappointing that you should have problems with a re-con unit

You are right 'ManyMinors'. Half an hour with a hammer, screwdriver and a vice has made a vast improvement! Once it is de-rusted a judicious bit of filler and a paint job should have it totally useable

Thanks Bob. The rust actually looks worse in the pics than it really is - a lot of what you see is dirt. But - I have no experience of panel beating so probably not cost effective to pay for someone to do it. Pity as it would have made a good spare......

I found this behind a pile of wood in my shed. It has sustained some crumple damage at both ends. Wondering if it can (easily) be put right or no. Otherwise only some surface rust.
