Door seals
Hi all. Boris minor has small gaps here n there between his doors and the seals on car around the opening. They're not the original door seals and appear to be a very small diameter, a lot smaller than an old classic mini door seal. I read elsewhere on this forum that someone had bought seals from E...

Re: Rear suspension dipped on the near side?
Also if you go for the new 7 leaf springs you might find them a little harsh but all is not lost. Although it's a bit of a pain to do you can remove 1 or maybe 2 leafs from the new springs to soften them a little. I fitted 7 leaf on my 2 door and find them a little too firm. Ironically my car after ...

Re: Cylinder Head Nuts
I might be wrong but aren't those water passages that are blocked/restricted ? If so that would have incresed the heat on the 1 and 2 cylinders and maybe helped the gasket on it's way?

Re: Advice on buying a Convertible please.
There are many hugely overpriced Minors out there - especially from 'Traders'. Don't be suckered in to paying way over the odds. I assume this is the ebay car I wouldn't value it at much more than £7k. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MORRIS-MINOR-Factory-Convertible-Fresh-WRCC-refurb-1275cc-/182107294780...

Re: Advice on buying a Convertible please.
Well i've personally never heard of them. Also as it stands there in the pictures the lower passenger side 1/4 (just in front of rear wing) looks like it's all filler as it isn't straight, both doors are out of line n need sorting. If these are sorted correctly and all rot on edges done away with is...

Re: Advice on buying a Convertible please.
It might be best to find your local MMOC meet area and pop along and discuss and maybe someone that knows their way around a mog would come with you to view a car. To me an all original with matching numbers would be the one to go for, BUT the 1275 engine mod/ 5 speed box and servo disc brakes help ...

Re: Rusty panels
I'd prefer to keep as much of the original panel as possible, but that does depend on how much patching is needed. There are a few good rust converters that will hold back rust on pitted floor pans for a good few years at least if they then get a good protective coat of zinc primer and paint.

Re: vibration
I have just received a horrible quality engine mount from one of the usual culprits. I needed an example to try and make a suitable part. I think it is made from Blackpool Rock. No wonder that owners are having problems. I will start working on decent ones. Regards Declan The future is looking good...

Re: Top hose cracking up!
It appears that anything today that is rubber and new isn't fit for purpose. We have seals that don't seal, hoses that split, mounts that are too hard. I've even read on an American site in relation to another brand of UK classic saying to avoid UK rubber car components !

Re: vibration
I replaced the engine mounts on Boris Minor about 12 months ago and noticed a vast improvement over the previous owners 'new' mounts (that were only 6 months old) . I got mine from BM as they state (as mentioned above) made to original spec. Now having not driven a minor with original mounts I have ...

Well I still can't see how on earth the paint spraying world advanced by going to 2K paints, don't tell me some pen pushers with power decided celly was too harmful for the environment and decided on 2K paints as the way forward ? What paints are recomended / available for the DIY car restorer at ho...

So as this 2K paint is so flippin lethal (been reading HSE notes on it) ie air fed mask and full suit / extraction filtered spray booth and no one allowed in till cleared after application . WHY IN GODS NAME DO WE STILL USE THIS STUFF ? What is the benefit of it over celly taking into account the en...

Would you feel guilty if someone got injured in your new car 'A' because it didn't have as good a crash test as new car 'B' ? Where will it end. It's getting like the food tins that have dates on and people just throw them away because it's a week past the best before. Keep up the non safety issues ...

Re: Parts washer, what solvent to use?
Trichoroethylene was used in drycleaning systems years ago and yes it got phased out. Currently we use Perchloroethylene or Perc and it has very similar if not better grease and oil break down properties. The BUT being it has to be used in totally enclosed Drycleaning machines nowadays as it also ha...

Oh and yes give the shoes a bit of time to settle and bed in, then maybe readjust if needed.

The buckle is bolted through the floorpan again with spreader plates and comes up between the upper ...

Yes i'll have to assemble the old L/H kingpin for now, not really a big problem as although the threads are showing a little wear they are nowhere near the point of ''letting go'' so will do till new part arrives. Steering arm yes ! I hope to be able to push it out carefully using a hydraulic gear p...
