Re: HMRC Phishing scam email anyone?

For info, I sent Cam a pm on Monday to flag this thread up as he is the only person with access to the server. Dryad - his email address is in Minor Matters if you wish to contact him directly.

Re: Vale: Roy Allingham (BMCecosse)

Sad news, although I knew he was not well. We had a lot of lively discussions and chats via pm over the years about some interesting topics, including "ghastly" headlight peaks and cooking his Quorn sausages on a shovel. His wealth of Minor knowledge and expertise will be missed here. My c...

Re: The search for royale blue

Ray Newell's book lists Blue Royale as one of the rare colour options offered on travellers during 1969/70 (along with Faun Brown & cumulus grey). The interior colour is listed as galleon blue and it had a gold coachline. I've never seen any travellers in any of those colours though so maybe the...

Re: TEAM GB

There is some logic to it Les, and ordinarily the first 3 letters of the country's name are used. Problem is that there are three olympic competing countries who begin with GRE (Greece, Grenada & Great Britain) and they can't all be referred to as GRE so Greece is GRE, Grenada is GRN and Great B...

Re: TEAM GB

My question was , why did the R letter have to be included Because in 1972 the International Olympic Committee decided to introduce 3 letter codes for all competing countries. Nothing to do with political correctness, and no need to get rid of any GB car badges. It's just the way that the countries...

Re: TEAM GB

Well he actually asked what the 'R' refers to, rather than what it stands for, which is why I pointed out that the 'GBR' is an acronym. No point trying to figure out what the 'R' refers to individually when it isn't supposed to be read on its own :D

Re: TEAM GB

The athletes all wear the internationally recognised acronym for their country when competing and GBR is the recognised acronym for Great Britain, and has been for years. 'Team GB' is just a brand name for the British Olympic Association (the equestrian team brand name is 'Team GBR').

Re: Stolen Traveller Cardiff & Vale area

Here's some photos which might help to identify it. It's got round wing mirrors and an RAC badge on the front grille:

Hope you get it back :(

Re: Minor in Devon needs a piggyback ride

If you don't want to do the work yourself have you tried asking the garage you're planning to take it to? If they don't have a recovery truck themselves they're bound to know someone local who does.

Re: brakes squealing

Some of the suppliers sell 'unbranded' brake shoes as well as branded such as Mintex so you need to let them know which ones you want. I recently bought some brake shoes from ESM and asked for the best quality ones, which they said were Mintex. They are more expensive than the unbranded shoes but yo...

No. When I spoke to one of the organisers at the National last weekend they said that venues/dates are still being looked at.

Re: List of Keys numbers / Chassis or Reg

Some factory records are held at Gaydon and original key numbers would also be available on a Heritage Certificate but going from Ray Newell's book (Original Morris Minor) the factory records for commercials built after 1964 aren't held. It might have to be a case of getting a new lock barrel & ...

Re: won't start - now intermittent loss of power

The garage had other pre-booked work to do before looking at the traveller but have now confirmed that the head gasket had blown between 3 & 4. The gasket wasn't a copper one but I bought one at the National so that has now been fitted, although the head needed a skim too.

Maybe for the same reason they'd want a domed chrome screw to fit a sun visor - originality?

Re: bonnet badge

ESM sell the earlier badge with the red enamel insert for the same price as the later (paint yourself) one so ask them if they'd swap the part for you: http://www.morrisminorspares.com/search/bonnet-badge
