Re: Last post.

Chris, sorry to hear you're leaving the group site. You will be sorely missed by many. I still want to get hold of the info book you were compiling, if possible.
Good luck for the future Chris, and don't let the bas***ds grind you down!!

Re: Insurance

Over the years, I have never had an issue at all with RH. They're great! Latest Minor was £67 plus insurance tax £9.38. I also had legal expenses cover as an extra option at £9.38. The breakdown cover is included in the insurance premium, and also if the car is written off, they pay out and give the...

Re: Well Hello There....

The vehicle is shown on DVLA site as a black Morris registered 23rd March 1971 on MOT page. No further MOT record, so not been MOT'd since 2006, at least. You can at least apply for a replacement reg document as they do have a record of it. Wait until you have any further comments, as the cab may ha...

Re: Well Hello There....

Welcome Steve! You live in a great place! I used to live at Hogley Farm, just off the climb out of Holmfirth on the A635 over Saddleworth Moor. What details have you got for the car? Reg number, car 'chassis' number, body number (top right of bulkhead under bonnet). All those can date the car, but D...

Re: Previous history - BAN 715C

It may still be under renovation as it is shown as SORN on DVLA. No MOT record, so probably not yet been back on the road.

Re: identification Series MM 1951

I have seen untidy stampings on the minor bulkhead numbers , so I wouldn't worry about it. I think they were probably hand stamped. From the photo it looks to read SMM 111357. That would make it a 1951 car, which you state it is. If all the other numbers appear to fit 1951 too, then you have no prob...

I wonder if that car is up for sale?

DVLA still have it listed, but not taxed or MOT'd since 2010. Colour shows as blue, not grey, in their details.

Re: What was your first car?

My first car was a grey 1952 Minor sidevalve KWF 904. This cemented my relationship with minors, which my parents also ran as driving school cars. These were all travellers. THP 150, BLG 375B, FVU 396D, with a loan car for a time of 456 YMA. Great cars! After two years with the minor, I then graduat...

Re: Spotted today.

A tidy traveller at the Great Central Railway (Loughborough) on 17/6/17. It was parked between the station and the engine shed and attracted quite a few looks as people walked past. It was a decent car in a fairly rare late shade of blue when I sold it in late 2015. I believe it was later sold by C...

Re: Series MMs For Sale

I have seen a small photo of the engine compartment, and it was well presented, clean and tidy. Inner wings looked good in correct colour, and solid. The only non-standard items under the bonnet I could see were a brake servo low down driver's side, and the only spoiler, a K&N air filter!

Re: Series MMs For Sale

Fetched a reasonable sum given the ad was not really in the best section. Did anyone in the club buy it? Definitely two serious buyers there. I would have been interested in it for my brother, if it had been closer. 1950 is my brother's birth year, and it was first registered, and even possibly buil...

Re: Your Favourite Roads, Trips, Car Holidays etc

Roads I really enjoyed; Ashbourne - Buxton A515, and Buxton - Whalley Bridge A5004. Derbyshire Greenfield - Saddleworth Moor - Holmfirth A635, and A6024 Holmfirth south past Holme Moss to join the A628. Mostly Yorkshire, but a bit of Greater Manchester and Derbyshire at either end. In both cases I h...

Still on DVLA, but not taxed since mid 1999. Was blue in DVLA details. With your contacts, can you not trace the last owner?

Re: Got a few grand to spare??

Be nicer if it had its original registration too. But aside from that the interior colour would need changing for me. Still like it though, but like the A40 pickup more... MM reg number was lost in early DVLA days because the original number could not be proven with any documentatation. RSU 323 iss...

Re: Got a few grand to spare??

You are bang on on the original interior colour scheme. The blue / black is the right pattern but wholly the wrong colour. I still want to see under the bonnet....... If I remember rightly, the underbonnet area is tidy, with little corrosion, and the smooth and quiet 918cc sidevalve and other items...
