Re: Car covers…

I have a similar garage and bought a Carcoon to go inside. It is a drive-in version so unzips at the end (and sides if necessary.) Like you, No electricity so I mounted a small PV panel on the roof which charges a battery and powers the small fans in the carcoon. Dry and moisture free, albeit not ch...

Re: battery lead connectors

Thanks for all the advice. The car is not concours, nor do I aspire to owning a museum piece simply like original look, I have the connectors from an equally (Much worse) geeky fellow owner and the battery posts have been drilled by the supplier which is Shield batteries. Not cheap but looks the par...

Re: Door draught excluder

When fitting I use dabs of evo-stik in areas where it is difficult to crimp the metal of the DE. When trimming it, a very sharp cutter is needed and some clear spray glue is useful on cut-ends to stop the cloth fraying. I am not sure whether they were original but my car has 6" metal rub strips...

Re: Charles Ware Liquidator Statement

Some parts are ordered from elsewhere as it would be uneconomic to stock them. The restoration business has been re established and doing some really good work. My car came back after a long stay through the turmoil and the work was beautifully done. They have a long list of vehicles awaiting work a...

From memory there were also 'S' stencils which it is suggested stood for 'Synobel' / 'Synthetic' paint and I spotted this one at Capel Manor (NLMMMOC) a few weeks ago, which I am told designated 'E' for Export. (Series III Clarendon Grey, 2 door Saloon).

Re: How do you remove the rear arch liners?

Over the rounder inner arch the material some form of vynide is glued with a shaped vinyl cover panel as an edging. The latter has, from memory, 4 cross head screws in cups through the card / hard board covered vinyl and an aluminium former, designed to prevent friction wear.

Re: No engine number

I tried for years to tell DVLC as it then was of a new Goldseal engine fitted in 1979. Having been ignored I eventually removed the Goldseal number and had a new engine number strip made with the original engine number on it. The scrivets were drilled out and the new ones tapped into place. Now my c...
