camshaft
Hi
A colleague wants a 1098 camshaft, I have one, but it has some pitting but no wear on the cams.
Would this be serviceable, and what do the 2 rings in the casting mean.
Regards Win

Re: Type 9 speedo ratios
Better leave a generous safe braking distance, if your going to be dividing your speedo reading by 5.76923%. on a regular basis.
I am sure you will cope.

Re: Type 9 speedo ratios
Hi Chris
Sorry I know nothing about type 9 boxes.
The speedo reduction in a standard ribbed morris box is 2.6/1.
1 rev speedo cable = 2.6 revs output shaft.

Do you think the rocker breather should be blanked off even if the carb has a breather, HIF 38.

Re: meter info
Hi Alec
It has 2 crocodile clips, red and black, plus a lead to go round the HT. like a clamp meter.
Just wanted some info, I did not want to make it into a melted plastic blob.

The author calls it classically ugly, I think not, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
But never the less different. I want one, Jag performance traveller economy??

20/50 oil
Wilkinson's have 4.5L 20/50 motor oil, at £7.67.
It is not stamped on the tin but I am informed it is API SE CC. I believe this is OK for our engines.
Is this just too cheap.
Regards Win.

Re: gearbox seperation
Hi
I did the same thing to my series 11, that is fitted a ribbed box and still retained the long gear stick.
Remove the extentions from both boxes, compaire the posistion, and shape, of the gear selectors.
This will show you how much work is involved.

Re: Engine modification & FJ
Hi Tom
Seen that, done it, got the tee shirt.
Exactly the same with me, I just appeared to be going round in circles with FJ.
I understand now there is a dedicated phone line for MMOC, this may help.
I went to to RH. increased engine to 1275, and value by 25%, same cover, for £40 less.

Re: oil feed to rockers
Hi
The brass plug which I drilled out was 1/4".
Sorry no pics, its all back together.
The hole is in the front pedestal, to line up with a hole in the head, the oil is then transferred to the hollow rocker shaft, then feeding each rocker, just check you have a oil to the rockers.

oil feed to rockers
Hi I am rebuilding a 1275 midget engine, fitted with a 12G940 head. After fitting the head, I found I did not have an oil supply to the rocker shaft. Removed head found oil drilling in head blocked. I could not clear it, and tried to remove the brass plug, in the cross drilling. This had to be drill...

To hone or not to hone
Hi
Is it better to hone the cylinders before fitting new rings, I sure I read somewhere, honing should only be done on re-bores.
Regards Win
