Re: Bumper re-chrome advice
I have just had my Lowlight bumpers rechromed. Cost £60 per portion. £240 total. I had one of my friends take them to London and collect for me as they are very heavy and wanted to make sure they did not get damaged . I can get you the details if you want. Very good quality. That would be great! Pl...

Bumper re-chrome advice
Hi all,
I'm looking at quotes for getting the front and rear split two bumpers re-chromed on my lowlight. Does anyone on here have a recommendation of where's a good chromers, and what sort of ball park figure is reasonable to pay for getting these done?
Thanks,
Will

Re: Series MMs For Sale
The Tourer is an interesting one.
As POMMReg rightly states it seems to have all the body ID plates. Just how would one go about registering a car like this without getting 'stung' ?

What stipulations are required by Malta?
All body id plates look to be present.

Re: Romain green paint code
Hi All, I thought I should update you on where I am on this. I ordered up a sample of VW Friesen green (L6T), sadly it's nowhere near the same colour, being much brighter and less turquoise than the original. I had managed to get some enamel paint mixed up which provided a reasonable match, but not ...

Re: Wheels for my minor, have marina set up
Although 5 years later, here's a picture of interest for anyone considering fitting MGF spare wheels to their Minor: http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll98/lbsc123/WP_20160125_11_07_18_Pro_zpsp55zin3u.jpg Dad's fitted a set to his Traveller as they came with the original tyres; although I think the...

Re: Romain green paint code
Most paint shops have disposed of the colour code formulae. Romain Green is listed as BMC code N/A (before Austin/Morris merger), ICI code 0095, Used from 1948-50. The best that you can usually do is colour match it to some hidden panel on the car which has not weathered too much, a bit difficult i...

Re: Romain green paint code
Will, The BMC code for Romain Green is GN27 and was used on the Minor from 1964 on. Is that the colour you are planning to use? This is a link to a colour swatch, but not sure how accurate it really is: http://www.oval.co.uk/shop/mirrorcryl-2k-bmc-gn-27-romain-green/ Thanks for finding the link, al...

Romain green paint code
Hi all, After years of grinding welding and filling I'm nearly at the stage of sending my 1950 lowlight off to the painters. I have been able to locate the ICI paint code for Romain green, but it seems like many mixers won't mix to that code. Is there a more modern code of the equivalent colour? Or ...

Re: 1950 Saloon project
The passenger door is the original one, but the drivers was a rusty replacement, luckily my Dad broke a 2 door in 1985, and he's kindly given me the door for the project( He's also given me a very nice and largely rust free early Series 2 bootlid thanks Dad!) A small point but if you miss it now, y...

Re: 1950 Saloon project
Well This update should bring the project up to date, as the pictures were taken today. Since the last pictures were taken I have fitted both the doors and door tops and getting the door alighment spot on, this is still on going and is taking a very long time  . http://i286.photobucket.com/alb...

Re: 1950 Saloon project
Many thanks for the kind replies. Getting to this stage has taken a huge amount of work, and as you can see from the beginning of this thread it's been a LOT more work than I had expected! Sadly I can't take credit for the workshop facilities, they are my Dad's which i am lucky to be able to use whi...

Re: 1950 Saloon project
Holy thread resurrection! I'm back! :D With it being just under 3 years since I started this thread and 18 months since my last update, but fear not I have been steadily plugging away. Sadly the car has turned out to be significantly rustier than I had expected, and as a result panel replacement sno...

Re: 918 sidvalve engine rebuild
Thanks smithkids,
HOPEFULLY a rebore won't be required as the bores look in good condition, but only a measure up will reveal there true condition... MAYBE I should just sack this whole side valve engine in and fit an XPAG....
only joking

Hi Mike, she's running 4 ring pistons, I've sent an E-mail to bryan this morning.
Magnetic sump plug seems like a good idea, but how would you go about making one ?

Re: 918 sidvalve engine rebuild
still standard, but it looks to have had a new set of rings fitted in the past judging by the stepped top ring.DAVIDMCCULLOUGH wrote:What size of pistons are fitted? Think I have a few plus 10 rings from my rebuild.
Thanks for the offer though

918 sidvalve engine rebuild
Hi All, I've just had the side vavle engine apart in Brian my ongoing lowlight resto. the results weren't great :( . It needs a regrinding of the crank and new bearings and a new piston ring( one top ring is broken ) but it looks like I'll have to buy a set. I don't suppose anyone out there has an e...

Re: 1950 Saloon project
It's been far to long with no update, work has restarted following a period of prolonged disillusion and I feel like I may be over the hill with the welding, over the last year I've replaced the front and rear n/s floor and also the inner, outer and boxing panel for both sills, I've also replaced th...

Re: Costa Concordia
Pressure needs an area to act on and should have an "area" in the units, e.g. Pounds per Square Inch Its one of those mis-used terms I think it'd be force, a bit like density pressure is the same regardless of the area you're measuring it from but the total force would change. so the tota...

Re: Crossplys or Radials
My Cars still in MANY pieces, so I still haven't had a chance to test the car, I am however planning on fitting Crossplys to the Lowlight. In all honesty I'd say that unless you're really going for an original spec car(which I am) I'd probably fit radials; they're cheaper, longer lasting and better ...
