Re: Wildly inaccurate speedo
Everything according to you is 'very expensive', but a recondition/recalibrated speedo will be accurate and better than a fixed penalty notice + points.............bmcecosse wrote:Aye - but compared to a £5 speedo from ebay - it's a VERY expensive alternative.......

As an alternative, you could use Fernox Alphi 11 http://www.fernox.com/files/Fernox/Content/PDF/English/Alphi%2011%205L.pdf Fernox Protector Alphi-11 is classified as non-hazardous and non-irritant and compatible with all materials you will find in a cars cooling system You can buy it in 5 litre con...

Mine's a 59 car converted to a spilt screen so has centre hung visors.
These are better on the convertible as you can flip them up when the roof is down and it guides the air over your head......

If the head is off anyway, it's worth regrinding the valves in. Doesn't take that long and it ensures a good seal.

Re: Rag top noise
There should be no gap where the hood joins the screen and water should not come through as the underside of the header rail should have a foam pad on that crushes down when you tighten the wing bolts giving a tight seal. If there is a gap your at risk of the wind getting under and blowing the hood ...

Re: loadsamoney!
Anything pre 72 is road tax exempt, most cars will do 35 mpg or so which compares well with a lot of modern petrol cars of a similar size, parts are readily available and not expensive compared to modern cars, servicing can be done by anybody with basic DIY skills with NO computers required, so more...

If someone thinks it's worth that kind of money and is prepared to pay it, why be so negative?StaffsMoggie wrote:
11 grand for a Minor?? No way.
Classic Car prices vary considerably (even for cars of a similar 'marque') and you cannot simply blanket define what an individual car is worth.
The 'Market' will decide.

Much cheaper than 'Speedy Cables' for a speedo overhaul and nice to deal with (just had my glovebox lid clock overhauled by him)Dominic wrote:If you have a problem with the speedo, I can recommend this chap.

Surely 4k is plenty for a Trav.... All depends on condition.................. They either agree, or tell you what they think it's wort...

Re: Wet drivers footwell (surprise surprise !!)
Mine comes from quarter light seals. Water comes through the seal, goes behind the door panel and down into the footwell instead of down through the door itself onto the sill cover and away to the road I have added a couple of 'new' drain holes to the q/l seal in an attempt to get the water to go do...

From the flight length you mentioned I assume that your coming from Australia or New Zealand?
That's showing some real commitment to the Morris scene
Dare we ask what the shipping costs for the car are going to be?

Drive on ramps are safer than axle stands but, don't let you remove the wheels.
It really all depends on what you want to do under the car.

Took my screen centre out and it had some 'Dum Dum' between the 2 glass panes so filled with black silicone and refit the seals and covers.
Hopefully by the time the car next gets wet it will have cut down another potential area for water ingress.......

Yesterday in very heavy rain water started coming through the screws holding the centre cap in place so it look...
