Re: Dynamo not charging at high revs

Changing the fan belt made no difference, looks like the new brushes didnt last long then! I'll look into it. Though would it definitely be nothing to do with converting to negative earth last week?

Re: Dynamo not charging at high revs

Well I tried to tighten the fan belt and it seems to have made it worse, the light now comes on even earlier. Should I just try changing the belt completely then?

Dynamo not charging at high revs

Hi, Recently I've found that the ignition light in the traveller seems to be coming on whenever at higher revs so when accelerating or cruising over about 35mph and doesnt go off again until I slow right down. The brushes in the dynamo were changed a couple of months ago and worked fine but it was o...

Re: Spotted today.

Spotted a white B-reg traveller in Patchway, Bristol just outside Rolls-Royce HQ about 3pm today, also later saw a maroon traveller heading south down the M5 in the pouring rain. I was in a modern, no waves :(

Re: no more MOT for pre 60 cars

I do wish folk would stop bashing testers with duff info! ALL doors on any car must be able to be OPENED from OUTSIDE when they are unlocked. As long as you can physically unlock them with or without central locking thats fine. The front drivers and FRONTpassengers door must be able to be opened fr...

Re: no more MOT for pre 60 cars

Just a thought, this would probably mean that even more older cars will just be sold for their number plates and left to rot as they would no longer need to be made roadworthy and MOTd before nicking the plate. :(

Re: no more MOT for pre 60 cars

The BBC states no MOT for vehicles manufactured before 1960. My Minor was first registered on 23/02/1960. The chassis number is MA2S3803262 Is there any way of establishing if my car was manufactured before 1960? The first chassis number of 1960 was 790007 so yours was built in '60 A have a 1957 th...

Overheating!

Over the last few days I've found that the radiator is occasionally overflowing slightly and was producing a bit of steam after a run today, the car generally seems to be running fine though. Whats the likely problem causing it to overheat so easily?
Thanks

Re: Fitting a warning light on rear screen heater

I had the light connected in series to the circuit, tried fitting it both before and after the switch but the heater didn't work so yes it must have been acting as a resistor. I've now fitted it in parrallel with its own separate wire from the switch and it's working fine. :D
Thanks :)

Fitting a warning light on rear screen heater

I recently fitted a heating element to my rear windscreen, it works fine on the flick of the switch. I just decided to fit a warning light to it but wherever i fit it in the circuit the light comes on with the switch but the heater then fails to work, it seems it just won't accept anything else in t...

Re: 2011 classic car show NEC auto jumble

The club's very helpful and friendly attitude was very useful for my mother who had trouble walking so was able to occas...

Brakes slack on first push

Hi, A friend of mine has been having problems with the brakes, a couple of cylinders and pipes have been recently changed, the system seemed to bleed fine and the brakes work but only on and after the second push of the pedal, it is still quite slack for the first push. There doesn't seem to be an o...
