Re: hazzard light fitting

les wrote: Thu Apr 25, 2019 10:42 pm Minors are pretty reliable, you’ll probably never need hazards! :D
I hope you're right, I've bought the Lucas kit for my van, I occasionally need to go onto sites and some require hazard lights to be used when moving. I'd better get it fitted

Re: Led bulb advice

IMO warm white is best for the front side lights, they look more in keeping with the character of the vehicle.

I’ve used the same supplier for my side/brake lights, and indicators, they also supplied the flasher that’s required for led indicator bulbs. They seem decent quality and postage is free.

Ahh, that’ll be why Ware’s put mine on the inner wing then. Thanks for the heads up.

ESM also do an alternator kit at a similar price.

If you coil is currently mounted above the dynamo you will need to re site it somewhere else

Phil
The ESM kit comes with a coil mount that puts the coil in almost its original position.

Having not needed a grease gun for many years I was pleasantly surprised at how good this one is https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sealey-AK48-Operating-Heavy-Duty-Grease/dp/B00K1UMXV8/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?crid=1RJ4OUGA700JQ&keywords=sealey+grease+gun&qid=1555063097&s=gateway&sprefix=sealey+gre&...

Re: Just saying hi.

While crawling around under the van I noticed that it has 7 leaf springs, from what I’ve read here 7 leaf springs are fitted to Travellers (and aren’t interchangeable with vans) and vans should have 8?

Re: How many A-series cars have you owned?

Five. My first was a ‘59 Frogeye that my grandfather bought in ‘61. It stayed in the failed until the early 80’s. I learnt to drive in it. My next two were run of the mill Mini Clubman travellers. Then a Metro, which was a 998, then became a 1293. Now I have the van. In the late 80’s/early 90’s I sp...

Re: Clip on door mirrors

I'm new to this Minor van malarky, but I've already realised that the mirrors on the wings are woeful. Obviously there isn't a definitive solution. My favourite idea so far is this, as it would see past the box.

Blaketon wrote: Thu Apr 04, 2019 6:01 pm As a matter of interest, how do you come out over free road tax on working vehicle (Assuming you are self employed)?
As far as I’m aware it doesn’t make any difference. I don’t pay VED at a different rate for my Connect, so the Minor shouldn’t be any different.....hopefully.

Re: Just saying hi.

They are Mk1 Ford Transit mirrors. I should think you'll find you're knocking into them all the time! You do need some sort of decent mirror on a van though..... Well I haven't knocked them yet but they're next to useless. I'm certainly on the look out for something that reflects something worth se...

Yes, they were suboptimal. Rain repellant needed.

Picked the van (Monte) up today and I have to say that 100miles in rain, hail, sleet and sunshine is a good way to get to know a vehicle.

Re: Just saying hi.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Initial plans for it are a few mods to make it a little safer and more reliable, but mainly to just drive it for a while before I decide what else will need doing to make it work friendly on a day to day basis.

It will be sign written, but the design isn’t finalised yet.

Just saying hi.

Hi, I'm the PoolGuy (I play with swimming pools for a living), I'm picking up a '71 Minor van next month to use as my work van. It's over 30 years since I had a non modern vehicle, that was a Frogeye back in the early 80's as my first car.

Looking forward to getting my hands dirty again.
