Re: 3 D printing

I suppose the problem is that the Minor is an affordable classic and many owners will be running them on a very tight budget. Our local garage chap runs classic Fords and has serious problems finding trim. He'd pay sensible money for the bits that he needs.

3 D printing

Seems the latest Airbus has over 1,000 3D printed parts. I wonder how long it will be before many classic car parts will be manufactured like this.

Re: Brakes not working so well

Both of our moggys have been upgraded to 8" front drums and I agree that for normal driving they're more than adequate. If you have arthritic knees like me the servo is worth considering, less pushing to achieve good braking.

Re: Diesel air pollution

That's my big beef with so called emission free cars, the pollution produced to power them is just shifted somewhere else - and the crap produced in the manufacture of the batteries is horrendous, lakes of poisonous effluent seeping into the ground and the battery packs have to be changed every few...

Re: A Bit Depressing

You know,we went to the Eden Project in Cornwall a few years back and all the staff were driving around in Fiestas with electric motors. Got talking to one of them,he was a proper tree hugger, and he said he had a real problem using the car around the site because it was being done for Eco- publicity...

Re: Diesel air pollution

I suspect that the only way an electric car can be environmentally friendly is if it is recharged by solar/ wind/geothermal etc. The manufacturing/ recharging/ recycling impact on emissions is greatly underestimated I understand.

Re: A Bit Depressing

The cars they were pushing us to buy 10 years ago ( diesels) are now considered the worst polluters! And all this rubbish about electric cars being pollution free....look up the environmental costs of manufacturing/ recharging/scrapping the batteries.

Re: Environmental Zones

Well Nickol, in typical British tradition we mess around and debate and put off decisions. Broadly speaking every pre 1974 car is tax excempt and 'historic '. Lots of debate regarding emissions etc and different cities/towns will take their own views. Even London seems to see the value of having cla...

Re: Diesel air pollution

10 years ago we were advised to buy diesels for their low emissions. Now they are tantamount to sleeping with the devil. We won't get another because of expensive issues with particulate filters. Also the modern petrol cars are challenging diesels in terms of fuel economy. I believe most manufacture...

Yes that's it. Did it for years and it's fine. Agree it adds to the charm ...still have my 803 on the Austin but it does run better on the su/standard filter. Probably because the zenith carb was carp.

That looks wonderful! Don't know any Devon garages but our dealings with Charles Ware in Bristol have been totally satisfactory over the past 10 years. Not cheap but very professional.

Yes,had the same thing trying standard rattle can colour on my smoke grey saloon. The 'scanned '
paint colour was spot on,but a bit dearer.3 years later had a full resto and re spray and the colour was slightly different again.

Re: Air Cleaner Maintenance

Unless you are really into originality I'd think about replacing it. Had the same thing on my '55 A30 ,with a zenith carb. Switched to an su with standard MM air filter and it's so much better.
