Has there been a change of heart? I thought the 12g940 head was supposed to be the best mod. I haven't fitted mine yet and I will wait until it has it's TÜV (our MOT every two years FYI) in May. What's the advantage of the 12g295?

Engine steady
ESM has two different engine steady kits listed. The one you are looking for is the MNT146A not the MNT 146. It is marked "Sold out" as I have just checked their website. Suggest you ring them for confirmation to avoid surprises.

Engine steady
I think the ex-Grumpy kit is sold out. I may have got the last one. ESM sent me a mail a while ago saying they were going to re-introduce some of the Grumpy kits during the year. It is however easy enough to fabricate. I can measure it up if you want.<br> http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=123990758...

Valve decoke
I removed the outlet valves on my newish 940 head to check the condition. There's quite a carbon build up on the exhaust valves but other than that everything looks good. Any tips on decoking the valves? Scrape it all off? Use chemicals? Lathe/sandpaper?? What's the best thing to do as I don't want ...

Help! Starting problem
As a novice, I marked the leads with tiny cable ties. One on no. 1, two on no. 2 etc and took digital photos of the whole arrangement showing the orientation just in case I have to work on it in the future. Some of the best tools for working on a minor-a digital camera and a bunch of cable ties!<br>...

Jumping out of reverse
Thanks, All other gears are fine-it's only reverse and not always but becoming more frequent. I'll keep a close eye on the oil level although I have changed the oil (20/50) fairly recently. It does weep two or three drops a week-but only drops. Pity, I had the box out last year doing the OB crank se...

Jumping out of reverse
"Leonarda" has started jumping out of gear on reversing. She used to do it occasionally be seems to be more frequent now. Is this a sign to tell me that I should be sourcing a reconditioned gearbox? Not that I do much reversing!

As I am preparing to fit the 940 head in the near future, can anybody tell me which waterway should be blocked off?
Thanks

MarkyB, I mentioned the anti-vibration mount on an earlier post-http://www.morrisminoroc.co.uk/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=23265&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15 An easy mod and it works very well indeed. You can still hear the clicking but it stops the clunking-at ...

Don,
Maybe these photos will help, but read my earlier post. I think Paul can offer more accurate information.

12g940 Calculations prior to fitting
Thanks Roy, I think the springs are standard so I will leave them in. And yes, this I have nearly ready to go on. Still wondering about that black cylindrical knob on the side though. Any idea if this needs adjusting or where I can get a manual on the HIF 38 to read up on it? Thanks Declan (DEC 1964...

Separating intake and exhaust
Don, That photo I posted is actually an outlet manifold 12g797 from a minor that was said to be fitted with a HS4 carb. I measured it and found the metal thickness varied from about 5mm on the LHS and 8mm on the RHS. Wait and see what Paul measures and go by that as the castings may very well be dif...

12g940 Calculations prior to fitting
Thanks, The head is fitted with double springs, can I simply remove the inner spring on each valve?-see photo. I am not looking for a racing spec and am doing this for two reasons. 1) Increasing the power will hopefully help me overtaking tractors and lorries on the open roads. It's very difficult w...

Parcel shelf
The parcel shelf on mine is not card, (just recovered it when I did the padding as shown above) it is actually light plywood -but it was like that when I bought the car so I don't know if it is original or not but it doesn't seem to sag.

12g940 Calculations prior to fitting
I am still gathering bits and pieces but I have been doing some calculations prior to modifying/fitting the 12g940 head on my 1098cc engine and would like to know if I am getting it right. Sorry about the mm but I only have metric gauges. I read on here somewhere that the cam lift is ¼” (6.35mm). I ...

12G940
Could I ask this question again. What is the brass bit that looks like it has been cut off in the third photo above? I don't like to mention the infamous bypass but is it easy to remove for replacement?-I'm a bit afraid to touch it and it does look a bit corroded. Another question: On fitting the 12...
