I had this problem and the fault was in the wiring at the back of the wiper switch
one wire is common to the heater and wiper motor

I put alternater on my every day car and had no problems in starting in the winter
lights on heater on and still good

my best buy was a 1959 pick up all steel back in good condition from the isle of white drove it home no issues and had it for 3 years and just serviced it and then sold it on ebay for much more
also a engineers van for £900 and kept that for quite a few years and sold it later on ebay for lots more

i can switch the rear fog on or off at will independently if the front fogs are on or offbmcecosse wrote:Dennis - I doubt it comes on unless your headlights or front 'fogs' are already on.
