Re: Adjustable oil pressure fitting
Well, suitable in a way. The knob of the piece I purchased was too big to clear the top starter bolt end. Its O.K I can extent the shaft of the bolt so that it is clear, and also I recommend placing an o ring between the adjusting lock nut and the engine plug, as there was some gunk on the withdrawn...

Re: passenger side foot well hole series 2
I am a tad cut and paste illiterate, but I will eventually find a kind person to do the shot on the hole. Interest only, its a different shape to the dipswitch hole profile but the two smaller holes are the same distance apart, so whether the Yanks had different switches, could be for anything add o...

Clutch and brake pedal stop plate
May I ask. Was there also a square stop plate fitted to the brake pedal as well as the clutch, where it contacts up under the floor in a series 2, or were they only on the clutch pedals? Thanks

passenger side foot well hole series 2
Here is one for you Phil. What is the reason for a rather large hole in the passenger side foot well that has two smaller holes adjacent to it. Nothing matches on the driver side, so its not for LHD, or is it? What is it for? (hope Im not embarrassed by the answer) LHD dipper switch?

Re: unusual engine prefix
The 998s have a 10 prefix? And the 9 praps is or was a 948? Thanks. Its probably closer to 1100 now, was bored to the max. Beautiful little engine. Thanks a million

Re: Adjustable oil pressure fitting
As I said Phil I don't have a canister, and the present filter spin on is a Max filter, and as I said in my last post it leaked as well, and of course I tightened it beyond hand tightness to stop the leak. I fit hundreds of filters mainly on much later cars, no problems. It is the pressure.

unusual engine prefix
My engine which I believe was originally a 998 has an engine prefix 9AUH I presume the 9 indicates that it is , or was a 998, but was wondering if the AU meant Australia, Just curious.

Re: Adjustable oil pressure fitting
Sorry, I cant remember whether the canister faced up or down, as I don't have one. My spin on bracket is new, so no problem there, but as I remember the canister sealing ring was narrower than the ring on the spin on, and the fact that it was spanner tightened means it was probably a tighter fit, th...

Re: Adjustable oil pressure fitting
The only reason I am on the path of adjustability, is that no oil filter should leak under normal conditions and mine was. I changed the spin on filter, as it was not one I generally use, and it also leaked.. I needed to tighten more than a quarter of a turn to stop the drip. I am aware the 948 was ...

paint colour
Yes, Im, in Aus, and my only reason for asking the gold paint colour was curiosity. No trouble for a paint shop to match it at all. Thanks for the ESM tip I do buy stuff from them, and find their prices fair.

Re: firewall holes and boot colour
I think I will go with body colour in my 54 body. Personally, as I know we all think differently I think black in the boot is a bit much. Each to his/her own Just paint the wooden tray insert black. and also just as a matter of interest, the gold of the early dash and the steering column, what was t...

Re: firewall holes
Thank you I never would have guessed. May I ask. Was the original material for soundproofing a material similar to underfelt with a black painted surface facing out? I vaguely remember that stuff, I wonder what it is or was called?
Thanks anyway, that is terrific. A great forum.

firewall holes
Two questions. What did the original Minor have above the firewall bulkhead where across there is a series of holes as though there was a special moulding strip across where the bonnet was seated.
Secondly. What color was the boot interior painted. Was it the exterior colour ? Thanks .

Re: Adjustable oil pressure fitting
Thinking today, that the adjustable oil pressure control may be designed to take the standard length spring and in its unwound adjustment position create somewhat less pressure than the replaced standard plug maintained. We will see.

Re: Adjustable oil pressure fitting
Thats my instinct exactly. 50 psi flat out and 25-30 idling. I remember as a kid, the boys boasting about their 40psi at idle, and it kind of sticks. Trick is now, where to cut the spring. Thanks for the link.

Adjustable oil pressure fitting
I was wondering whether there was an adjustable oil pressure fitting that could be installed in my bored out 1100 Problem is, when the engine is newly reco in my opinion the pressure at revs is a wee bit high at circa 80psi. I have clipped the spring a coil, and obviously later on will have to repla...

Re: oil slinger front timing
Yes, I read the Issigonis biography, and my impression was that, he had a lot of influence in the Morris Minor development, and design, and when I replace or refit an incidental cleverly designed component, I think of him. I mean, how many handbrake cables have grease nipples? It was the Mini which ...
