Re: Lighting Issue
Take the blue wire off the switch. if the same happens, that is, the sides still go off in position 3 then the switch is faulty.

Re: HELP PLEASE
Had my speedo out and found the fuel gauge didn't work when I put the speedo back. I found the earth to the speedo was poor so I made a short earth cable to fix to one of the bolts on the speedo and then bolted the other end to a good clean patch of bodywork under the dash.

Re: wierd brakes
Renew the flexies as well. One of them could be collapsing internally and restricting the flow.
Check for sticking wheel cylinders.
Also check the springs. Could be the passenger side has stronger springs or they are fitted in the wrong holes.

Probably UNF but don't know what diameter or length. If you want to bring a wheel cylinder to me I have a good selection you can try to get the exact size. I am just the other side of Southampton. John 07594 592237

Undo the adjusters and the bleed valves and use a big screwdriver through the hole on the drum to lever the shoes away from the drum. The linings must be stuck in place with rust or with the ridge that forms inside the drum. I'm sure they will come off with enough swearing!

Re: Brake light issues
First of all the lights are not on a fused circuit (I assume you meant the sidelights didn't work) so I don't know why changing fuses cured it. When you took the wires off the brake light switch and taped them together the brake lights should light up without you touching the brake pedal (providing ...

It's just got to be a silver plated coil! I would donate towards it, really missing him.

Put "Morris Minor Spares" in the title and it will probably go into the category "vehicle parts and accessories" , subcategory "car parts" then you can pick what other sub categories. At the end of the day if you list it in any category people will still find it if they...

My MGB runs on if I use standard unleaded but not if I use the dearer stuff. Worth a try next time you fill up.

Re: Front indicators and front side lights..
Yes if all four don't work it is likely to be earthing problem. Can I just add that if you check the bullets, you can clean the bullets easily but if the sleeves are rusty inside then just buy new ones.

I think you have more than one fault OR non standard wiring. Work on tracking down one fault at a time. Is there 12v at the coil? If not check the fuse box where all the white wires are linked. This may be a stupid question but are you and your son in law familiar with points? I take it they have be...

Re: New master cylinder sticking
I have know rubber flexible brake hoses to perish inside and cause brakes to stick on. This could stop the fluid being pushed back to the master and could cause your problem. Do you know how old your flexies are? Older than 7 - 8 years I would change them anyway. If flexies are all new then somethin...

Next time it breaks down take the top off the float chamber and see if the fuel is up to the right level. Also get a set of these http://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/tools/hand-tools/laser-ht-lead-ignition-spark-tester and pop them on when you break down to see if you are getting a good spark. Go...

Re: rummbling when at 50 mph
Put the rear axle on 2 axle stands and run it up to 50. If there is no rumble you then know it is from the front end. You could then swap wheels from front to back and do it again, that would check for wheel balance.

Re: Hazard flashers
As Simitc says you wont do it with that switch, most kit switches have 5 terminals. You could use an MGB switch and diagram but you would end up with a large rocker switch that would not suit a Minor and those switches can be troublesome.
