Me having a Fawlty Towers moment!
Try the mg site for bmc engine prefixes, not 100%, but
ok for most engine types.

Re-reg as London only went as high as reversed "G"
multiples,leaving "H" multiples for re-regd vehicles.

Re: VIN issue
Does the stamped vin tie in with the numbers on the vin
plate?
The body number suggests a pre facelift yet the car clearly
displays the central speedo.
What body nos - not vin - is quoted in parts books as the
change point? May be different on Cowley built Minors.

I agree with Dean.
This is the problem with the no MoT for pre 1960
Minor's - increasing amount of enquiries we receive
are pre '60 chassis nos with post '60 body nos.

Glad you got there in the end, although you're a digit short on the body
number.
Is there signs of 'Clipper Blue' paint on the car?

Re: Build changes 1954
Don't have any 1954 2drs listed in the records, will
need full details - chassis/body nos. - of an early
Minor with central speedo AND a late one without!
Always in need of ANY chassis/body numbers AND a
Parts Book!
On BM 14xxxx by 1955

What body nos (B) is quoted for the change to central
speedo?
Body nos apply to Minors built at Cowley, and can preceed
chassis change points - although I doubt by this much!

Re: Stolen Minor Million
Seems a bit strange to me why the owner was not keen on
the car being inspected by a expert body repairer - you'd
think the owner would jump at the chance of someone
sympathetic to Minors AND living just 5 miles away would
give a honest opinion?
