Re: Front chassis leg, part replacement?

sorry to dig this up - I noticed that one of my front chassis legs is slightly dented in due to (what I imagine) is someone jacking it up there before. is the dent a structural issue or just cosmetic (ie. should I be bothered about it?)

Re: lock tab washers

thanks Les - not quite sure why i didn't think of that!! take it leaving the nut without the tab washer is a bad idea, or is it more a belt and braces approach?

Re: lock tab washers

i tried that but the b****r didn't want to go round at all - when you say ease, do you mean push it in side by side, or turn it with the file similar to how the nut is tightened (which i imagine would be hard considering how narrow it is)? if there's no specific technique i might just try to ease it...

lock tab washers

evening all! after fixing an oil leak from the driver side rear wheel, the other side started leaking this week as well! Whilst replacing all the potential leak points I had a problem with getting either the new or old tab washer screwed back in. on the other wheel, the tab washer just went quite ni...

Re: Stolen Cars

the whole back of the lorry thing is worrying. if they do do that then my engine cutout switch and disklok aren't going to do much good. i did buy a window stencil kit, but haven't got round to using it yet, maybe i should.

beyond that, i imagine it's all about good or back luck

Re: oil on inside of tyre and replacing shoes

yup - used mintex shoes all over. i asked whether he thought the cylinders were part seized and he said they were all fine. very strange all round. might try one last tighten up, but can hear the shoes just rubbing when spinning wheel with handbrakes off. on the crank - have no idea, he just said i'...

Re: oil on inside of tyre and replacing shoes

little bit of an update.. so tightened the handbrake cables - until it couldn't be pulled any more after the 4th click on the ratchet. took for a test run and pulling the handbrake on still didn't lock the rear wheels, but did slow the car down, albeit in 20m or so from 20mph. took to local garage w...

Uv oil or Danish oil

Hi all, Looking into buying oil to reproof the wood on the traveller once the weather gets better. I had my wood completely redone at Charles ware last year, so it's been drenched in cuprinol with (I believe) a Danish oil finish. Might start a fight here, but would it be better to recoil with Danish...

i bought the medium sized car cover from Halfords and it's been really great. Car kept completely dry throughout the winter - only problem is that it's impossible to fit back into its carry bag once it's out!

Re: Vibration and Ping!

i too get this ping, normally at the lower end of first gear when pulling away. to me, it sounds like a metallic disc getting pulled/sucked from one end of a chamber to another. still haven't figured out what it is.

Re: oil on inside of tyre and replacing shoes

no fix as of yet (havent had any time to work on the car), but when using it today noticed that the handbrake easily goes to 5 clicks on the ratchet with little to no resistance, so hoping the adjusting the nuts will solve this particular issue :D
