Re: Door window water wiper top strips
I have just replaced the outer weather strips on all the doors of my 4 door saloon. I bought the so-called 'alternative' versions which, of course, are not replicas of the original strips but these 'alternative' strips DO actually work by keeping external water from running into the doors......if pr...

Re: Rear adjustable spax - choppy ride
Thanks for the responses, chaps. Sadly, I don't have any chubby mates and the mates I do have, wouldn't be seen dead in my Moggy. I know.....before someone says it...….I need to get some new mates :D . I did suspect that any settling of the springs would only occur 'on the road' but just to give me ...

Re: Rear adjustable spax - choppy ride
I have read this thread with interest (as I do most of 'em, to be honest) and I apologize for hi-jacking it a bit. I would describe the ride on my 4 x door saloon as 'choppy' although I have never driven or travelled in another Moggy, so I have nothing to compare the ride with - apart from my 'moder...

Yes, as someone has posted on another thread, it's handy if OPs do give an outcome to whatever issue they raised as it may help others in the future with a similar query/problem.

Did we ever get to the bottom of this? Or even the top of it......if the noise was coming from above one of the pistons!

Re: Best radio aerial type? Electronic any good?
With a bit drier weather today I've finally been able to road test my newly installed radio/cassette player - complete with electronic aerial. I didn't venture too far from home - perhaps 5 miles or so - but the results i.e. radio reception, are very encouraging. A little fade here and there but no ...

Re: Textured paint for heater
I don't know for definite because I have got the earlier type heater set-up but I suspect it's very similar to the 'wrinkle finish' paint of an MGB dashboard.

Re: Alternator conversion
Couldn't agree more geob! I love driving my Moggy - the key word there being, 'driving'. I know it's got standard drum brakes so I adjust my driving style accordingly i.e. give myself plenty of braking distance from the car in front...….which some 'modern' is bound to fill as soon as possible anyway...

Re: Best radio aerial type? Electronic any good?
Thanks Mowogg - may I ask what type/make it was, 'cos there seems to be ones that need a separate live feed, others not. Some have to be earthed, others not. Prices seem to vary quite a bit too - typically, 3 or 4 squid up to 11 or 12 squid on Fleabay and then there's this https://www.raysmith.co.uk...

Re: Glass Channel Felt
I bought a roll of suitable window glass channel felt from the Woolies stand at the NEC Classic Car Show on Friday and fitted lengths to the 2 vertical sides of the n/side front door window this afternoon. For anyone considering doing it, it's dead easy. There was just a minor problem on one side wh...

Re: Treating rust
Interesting to read about the formulaic change of Nitromors. Nothing to do with Moggies or even cars but I bought some recently (not having used for many a year) and my instant impression was that it was not as efficient as I remembered it. Now I know why. It did the job, eventually, but it was pret...

He might have got his pricing a bit wrong but he's right about one thing: There definitely won't be any capital gains tax to pay...….because there won't be any capital gain at that price.

Best radio aerial type? Electronic any good?
I know there are a couple of historic threads on this topic but they are so old that any links posted have long since gone and besides, technology might have moved on i.e. improved a bit, in the last few years. Basically, I'm thinking of fitting a period(ish) radio cassette player to my saloon but a...

That's encouraging - sort of just what I was wanting to hear :) Thanks for posting. Did the old felt strip come out fairly easily? Does the new strip have to be glued in or is it a 'push fit'? May I ask also what type of and the dimensions of the felt you used...….or is it all pretty much universal?...

Re: Wiper Motor rubber mount mod
That's cheating!!...…..but very ingenious all the same. Well done. Replacing the very perished wiper mounting rubbers was one of the first jobs I did on my car. I managed to protect the paintwork but it didn't do much for my sanity. Just about everything else I've done on the car seemed like a doddl...
