ive got a similar set up , you do need the maniflow exhaust system and manifold to get the most of what you have ivv got a 1098, 1275 head hif 44 carb maniflow exhaust and manifold on standard cam its not a racer but lots of mid range tourque for overtaking lorries and it sounds lovley

ive got the sterring lock the secret switch ive also got a battery disconnect so the engine wont turn over

hopefully it went out of the exhaust pipe the unleaded fuel burns much hotter than the old 4 star and if the head has not been converted to unleaded then the valves can burn out glad your sorted

its easy as long as the thermostat housing nuts come undone , if they are rusty a good wire brush on the top and some plus gas a day before

i would be inclined to get the electronic system ive fitted 2 and they are great in my view , and i would get the old distributer reconditioned so you have a knowen spare

if the manifold nuts were loose this will be affecting the mixture , take the car out for a fun and then take a plug out and have a look it should be biscuit brown colour if so its fine . its getting too much air if the buts are loose and sending the setting all out of kilter let us know the results

i think scored drums are going to make the shoes produce a lot of dust and therfore squeek , i would go for a new set of shoes and drums if it was my car .
