I am following your conversion with great interest, and thank you for sharing. Watching your progress with anticipation. I cannot understand how you moved the gearstick forward, did you use the MK 1 box and moved the stick housing forward, and re bolt it to the casing, after cutting the selector sha...

Re: Preparing a for for spraying

I personally prefer to look at a respray with orange peel or any other imperfections when done by an enthusiastic amateur than look at a bright shiny cheque book respray. A great many people know how much effort has gone into it. Keep up the good work. Everybody to their own, I still admire the fini...

Re: Knocking sound in 948 Minor

Morning, we it is here.

If possible i would do a compression test first, a failed head gasket gives strange noises, especially when oil pressure appears OK.

See the various advice regarding tightening head down after replacing head gasket.

I used my adjustable reamer when I did mine many years ago, just made it a running fit.
You can borrow it if you need it, I live in South Yorkshire, but it will not cost a fortune to post it.

Re: Choke lever swap

My original choke cable is notched, just twist it to lock it.
I suggest removing it to check if it is just jammed.
I repaired my inner cable, just unsoldered old one, and replaced with a copper earth cable.

Re: Exhaust help

I fitted the EMS EX126 2 piece mild steel exhaust, appears good quality.
I fitted it onto a unmarked 3 into 1, on a 1275 Midget engine.
I am satisfied with the results, for the price.

He is highly respected engineer, who has developed a new type of battery without all the nastiest chemicals. They are going to try it in a tut tut first, and then move onto Morris commercial's.
