Re: Can’t get my daughters car to start

I didn't make the suggestion based on the necessity or otherwise of pumping oil around the engine before it starts, it was merely to enable Elaine and her Mum to get a feel for how much choke Elaine's Minor actually needs for it to start satisfactorily in various situations and varying ambient tempe...

Re: Can’t get my daughters car to start

When you push the choke back in as you're driving off, instead of pushing it all the way in, try pushing it to within 1/4" or 1/8" of the 'off' position so that when you have to stop for traffic or whatever you'll get a fast idle rather than it stalling.

Re: Can’t get my daughters car to start

It's also worth knowing that the first c.1/8th inch "pull-out" of the knob doesn't actually set the choke but instead sets the fast idle; this can be useful for cars (such as your daughters?) that tend to stall at idle during the early stages after a cold start.

Re: Electronic distributors

Snap! I, too, ran a Rover V8 (3500S) for about 30 years, twenty-odd of which after fitting a Sparkrite 2000. It truly was fit and forget so when I saw the light and became a Moggy owner I cast round for another Sparkrite. Being unable (at that time) to find a 2000 I also bought the 4000 version off ...

Also, probably wise to give it an oil and filter change as excess petrol swilling about in the bores will make its way into the sump, diluting and compromising the engine oil.

I've decided to have a go at painting them on in old English white to match the wheels and grille using Humbrol enamel and striping tape. Wish me luck! 🤞😂 You could always try your hand with this sort of thing first:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175386729608?hash=item28d5dd1c88:g:eR8AAOSwwL5i~UMV&am...

Well, looking closely at your signature picture, I think I may be right in saying that it appears to have a non-standard paint job. 8)

I am looking to buy my first Moggie and have seen a possible contender, a 1964 salon which has 101K on the clock. I am looking to use as an everyday driver Suzanne Why?
