Why would insurance be more? I'm not sure they would care, unless it gets so bad its likely to cause an accident - which is unlikely to happen without it failing its MOT first...
Of course, not garaged increases your risk of theft and older cars have less preventative measures...

grr
I hate insurance companies, I got burgled before Christmas and it took months to get anything back (which we did luckily). Now I just taken a quick photo of everything in my house so I can prove I own everything. They try to squirm out of anything!

Sorry chaps you are missing the most important and iconic alloy wheel from the 70's. I am of course talking about the Wolfrace Magslot - 13" running 175/75. I have had these on since 1976 and don't think anything else comes close[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1309715492_73 [/frame]...

Re: Thoughts on ebay car.
Thanks for your advice everyone. The guy said he didn't want to put it through the MOT, so I think I might steer clear. Might go see a car irmscher is selling soon though... How hard is it to replace fibreglass wings, are steel ones hard to get hold of/expensive? edit: and are the new steel wings an...

Re: need insurance!
The problem with most other insurers is the huge hike in the price when they pass their test. Footman James is the same price for provisional or full licence. Sabre which comes up at £1300 for provisional is £3000 once the test is passed. Its because they assume all young drivers are idiots and sho...

I also got a very cheap quote from Lancaster, looking at the few online reviews the company has is a little worrying though... That said, people generally only write reviews about these things when they wrong.

How much do you spend on tools?
I'm trying to get an idea of how much a minor is likely to cost me so I'm trying to think of any easily forgettable expenses and one I've thought of is tools. Looking at the spanner sizes : there are quite a few :o. I don't have a huge amount of tools, and most are DIY orientated, so just an adjusta...
