Re: Diy spraying advice.
yes it can be done with good results, i am self taught and have done several full resprays in celly. dont do what i did and use the cheap thinners at 7 quid a can as it is too aggressive and dries without a shine and also remember the main part of the job is all the prep, flatting down etc, good luck...

Re: 1952 MINOR WHEEL ARCH
the pics of Jethro by Boomlander appears to have the later morris 1000 rear wings fitted, i have a 1955 series 2 with original rear wings and they are about an inch higher at 12 oclock on the wheel, so what im saying is the distance at the top of the arch on series 2 cars is about an inch less when ...

Re: Front bumper valance
look at the bottom edge of the front wings and you should see two small holes about 6 mm diameter, sort of a rubber plug fits in the holes and cushions the wing to valance so not to rattle and also provides a small gap. hope this helps Graham

Re: Correct colour
it looks like trafalgar blue to me but as usual variations are common from car to car.i would take the boot lid into a good paint shop and they should be able to scan it and make you an aerosol up to a perfect match, hope this helps Graham

Re: Speedo black or gold
before making any changes i would check the differential ratio as some of the older cars have had a replacemet diff from a morris 1000 fitted which is 4:22, this would need a speedo with 1376 tpm or there abouts, hope this helps, Graham

Re: Speedo works OK BUT Odometer will not
it may be the digits which have rusted to the spindle or the worm drive which is worn out,if it is a gold face 0 to 90 mph i have a spare one, the small number on the face is "1376" turns per mile and was removed from a early morris 1000. if your interested i can test it before posting at ...

Re: No Ignition but Battery Fully Charged
try measuring the voltage accross the battery when you turn the key to crank, if it drops below about 9 volts its going to be the battery, for this test put the meter probes on the actual battery posts not the terminals which are on the thick leads . if the terminal voltage does not drop at all then...

Re: barrie's project
i think you have tap out the cotter pin at the pivot point on the clutch pedel <where you took the nut off> and then tap the spindle through the chassis. when rebuilding look at a workshop manual to make sure you have all washers/bushes etc in the correct places as its no fun if you have to dismantl...

Re: Quarterlight query
if you look at the frame which faces the inside of the car there are two big phillips screws.the idea is when its fitted you tighten these big screws which clamps onto the pivot pin, this is to make it stiffer to close as when your driving at say 50mph the air flow off the windscreen tends to keep c...
