Re: Can’t get my daughters car to start
Looks like I started it !! I’m quite ‘choked’ you didn’t appreciate my sense of humour, it was all in a light hearted manner, Post what and when you like Elaine.

Re: Can’t get my daughters car to start
Ive read shorter threads on rebuilding an engine than on the use of the choke !
Just to extend it a bit longer, it may be that the choke cable is too slack therefore not reaching full choke.

How often do the original points fail ? ————very rarely, I submit. When is a Minor not a Minor ?
Re: Tin can
Thanks Bill, watched with interest.
Tin can
I opened a can of baked beans yesterday, afterwards I washed the tin ready for disposal, however on giving the tin a second look, I thought what a nice well made item it was. Something often taken for granted, the humble tin can !

Re: Damaged radiator
Regarding radiator fitting, a while ago I fitted a new rad and had to modify the associated area. It seems the art of measuring is a thing of the past for some manufacturers, it’s more a case of ‘that’ll do where’s the next one’ I kept the old rad ( that fitted) to repair later,

It’s worth checking the retaining wire securing the gearbox to crossmember.

Pressure from the system maybe, I suppose it depends how you linked it to the circuit.

Long ago I read that OAT was not suitable for our cars, since then it’s been Bluecol and distilled water, for me. Now it appears to be confirmed! End of story !

Re: Break lights not working
Regarding the gauge and horn, they work via the fuse box. Clean the contacts where the fuses fit. Check the fuses are good then replace. Re-brake lamps, If you’ve got a manual with a wiring diagram, you should be able to trace the route and components of the brake light circuit back to a 12volt supp...

I’ve still got my Morris van but a few months back I bought a new car, this is a new experience for me, although maybe not for most. How things have moved on, the body gaps are good, nothing like the door fit on a Minor, for example. You go over a speed bump, instead of bracing oneself for the impac...

Re: BRITOOL sockets
Well,I’ve got a selection of old British tools, handed down, Britool, King Dick, Stahlwille, etc, however I decided a few years ago that I’d like a decent tool set all in one package, I bought a 200 piece set from Halfords and I’m very pleased with it. The old stuff is still here though, funny how s...

Flat cover option, as ManyMinors said visibility is better. Picture also shows some of the parts needed if you fit the tilt.
