Re: My 'Modern' during lockdown...

The DPF on my 2010 Tiguan was coming up as faulty. I had it flushed through under pressure. They inject a cleaner, then neutralise it. Then run the car for a while. It did the job, no more limp home mode. What is concerning is that the clouds of smoke coming out of the exhaust, after the treatment, ...

Re: Tin opener.

Three men were stranded on a desert island with no food apart from a box of tinned meat. They debate how to get into the tins. One, an engineer, proposes a machine made from palm branches and sharp stones. The second, a thermodynamics expert, recommends heating the tins on a fire until they rupture....

Is it just when you start the car, or continually smoking?

Re: Gasket material for Dyson vacuum

I’m not much of a Dyson fan. They perform well ,but for a ‘premium quality’ machine their reliability is quite poor...in our experience.

Re: Land of the Giants

It’s a tricky one this. We would love to drive a smaller, more environmentally friendly car...but we need the slightly higher driving position of a crossover type car to comfortably access and egress.
I’m finding it increasingly difficult to use my classic cars comfortably these days

Re: Hot starter motor

Hijacking this post slightly, my starter has always been prone to jamming once in a while. Traveller with 1275 engine and Ford 5 speed box.
Easy to solve by rocking in gear or freeing of with a spanner but it’s always puzzled me. Never happened on my saloon...

I don’t really think that a Minor needs any enhanced cooling or improvement. Works just fine as it is :D

Re: What is it?

I found that raking it out was the only natural way to control duckweed. Important to leave it at the side of the pond for a while so that creatures can escape back into the water. I had some success controlling blanketweed by placing a small bound bundle of barley straw into the pond. I think that ...

One thing that I’ve learned in my moderately long life is never get into an argument about politics, religion or,most importantly, cats versus dogs 🐕.

Re: Old Nottingham Images

To be fair, Nottingham took more care of its heritage than most cities. It’s still a handsome place.
By contrast Derby destroyed most of its finest buildings back in the ‘60s to build a road.
