Re: HRH The Duke of Edinburgh

It is with great sadness that I hear of the death of Prince Philip, and I hope that all will join me in expressing our deepest sympathy to Her Majesty The Queen for the loss of her husband of over 70 years. Sadly, there is no depth too low for some in their efforts to be noticed. A delightful young...

Re: MOT and assistance from RAC etc.

RAC T&C state: All vehicles must be insured and hold valid tax and MOT (unless exempt) As your vehicle is over 40 years old, then it is officially Exempt and having a MOT is optional, so long as your vehicle meets the exemption criteria regarding modifications. I see no reason why other such re...

Remember Kenneth Noye? He's not alone out there you know - there are people on the roads who turn a minor incident into a life or death situation through bravado, or intoxication, or just neanderthal reasoning. I'm not a little bloke, and at work over the years I've been threatened with a knife more...

You have to admire the skill and craftsmanship that has gone into making it but then you think, all that work and you've still got the engine in the wrong end :D Someone has real wit. It screams fun, and will irk the beard-brigade just enough. Gotta say I like it... a lot. And normally I'd run a mi...

Speak to Rob at Traveller Timbers near Hull. He's forgotten more about restoring ash than most other people will ever know.

Re: Purists look away now

Covin (as opposed to CoviD!) were a kitcar builder copying both 356's and 911's (and a couple of other '9' models too, maybe a 959 if memory serves?) and really pressed Porsche's buttons as the 356's were very close in looks, they even started selling Porsche badging for the kits before the German c...

I couldn't possibly agree more with the sentiment of your post, if not the output. Most definitely we appear to have grown out of the habit of taking personal responsibility for our choices and it is important to address that. Having said that, it does not excuse companies deliberately targeting peo...

Re: Blooming rubber!

I used Auto Glym tyre spray for donkeys years, but damn it is properly expensive to use. I went on to Demon Shine which works beautifully and is much more economical, but it is a bit too shiny. It would definitely do the job on windscreen surround, but I do have one reservation - it may or may not b...

Anyone recognise it?
It's a 356B. Lovely. There's a Covin version lives near me that I see now and then, just as 'bite the back of your hand pretty', much quicker with a tuned Beetle lump, and a fraction of the price.

GRP backs

Some years ago a pal had a scruffy van that got scrapped in the end because it had a rotten rear. He wanted to turn it into a pickup but couldn't find a cab back so the van got turned to bean tins :( . Okay these are GRP, but if it keeps another Minor on the road that has to be a good thing right? I...

Gambling ads skirt on the very edges of the law and regularly go beyond by using affiliates to commit offences and then dumping them in faux horror when they're exposed. I sent a complaint to Gala Bingo for illegal advertising only yesterday and will follow it up with the Ombudsman if they don't dea...

Purists look away now

This is what happens when Herbie reverses into a parked Traveller at speed! The more you look at this, the more you recognise the work that's gone in, whether you approve or not, Note how the front cab roof is actually Minor rather than VW, to ensure the roof join is right for a Traveller, and the f...

Re: Do I need to notify insurance when car is away for repair?

I agree with Phil - there's no harm in giving them the info anyway. It always pays to be ultra cautious with 'Uberrima fides' contracts. I used to insure my Traveller as garaged, and in a chance conversation with my insurers agent I discovered I was potentially uninsured when I brought the car home ...
