This is my minor which I have owned since I was 15 (10 years ago). Orginally from Essex, came to N Ireland in 1996. This picture was taken in March 2009, before restoration started. Re: Overheating modern
I work for a volkswagen dealership here in N Ireland. The diesel engines fitted to the galaxy is from the vw sharan. They have a plastic impeller on the water pump which through time melts and comes of the shaft. Which causes engine not so much to overheat at early stages, but not enough piff to put...

Re: Morris Minor 1000 four door 1957
Nice minor. Good to see another dove grey minor saved, (maybe i'm biased). The engine in my blue minor was replaced with a low compression unit also. A small bit of advice, I would keep an eye on the gauge sender unit gasket. I also made a paper gasket of mine and after a week the petrol ate through...

Re: Carburettor: please help!
Ref autolycus's quote Unless minor65's needle was grotesquely incorrect for the car, a new needle would, in itself, have made virtually no difference at idle The problem was not at idle, the engine would not rev. But did rev and idle with only full choke. Old needle was not grotesquely incorrect . ...

Re: Carburettor: please help!
My minor done the same thing, when warm the only way to get it to run normally was to have the choke right out.
The cure was a new carb needle, but the piston in yours may not be moving freely enough.

Where abouts of WZ 2044
I am not holding out a lot of hope in this one. If anyone would know of the where abouts of my late grandfathers Minor 1000. It being a black 1957 4 door saloon, with the N Ireland reg WZ 2044 which he purchased in 1965 with only 2000 miles in 8 years. It was in daily use until 1982 when it was invo...

Re: newbie to messageboard
Thanks Simon
It was restored/resprayed in 1991, garaged and didn't turn a wheel until 2006.
Not many dove greys about especially over here. I only know of three.
Good that it has its orginal Engine and Reg Number.

Hi Raymond
I last seen the car on the easter monday run 2001 and it was in great shape.
[frame][/frame]
That was taken at Castlewellan Country Park and it was wet.
