Re: Importing my Morris Minor to the UK
Hi Daniel. I am re-regestering my Traveller after 11 years in France. The process for you may be different. I went on www.gov.uk (register imported car) You have to inform the HMRC that you have imported a car with then to see if any tax has to be paid. For me there is non. You will need a registrat...

Re: Replacing brake master cylinder
One trick I have employed is once the long bolts are out is to file the flats off one side of the bolts so that the torsion bar does not need to be moves so much next time.

Re: Replacing brake master cylinder
It seems an unnecessary complication to split the job in two. I believe that if you are confident enough to fit the disks and bleed the system yourself you should be able to take out and replace the master cylinder. There is a method of easing the torsion bar down enough without dismantling the susp...

Re: What's changed on yours
On my 1969 Traveller that I bought in 1979 I have fitted...
Ford discs with Silicon brake fluid.
Lead free head.
SS exhaust.
Variable speed wipers.
Inertia seat belts.
Duplex timing chain.
Gauges in clove box.
But best of all... one piece side windows.

Re: Front disc conversion query
Hi. I have Ford based discs fitted many years ago. The best modification I have ever done. The seal neds to be removed to prevent the pads from continually rubbing on the disk.

Re: Never know what you find under the carpet
I found a pair of Mole Grips in the cassis leg when I first took the gearbox panel off. That was 44 years ago and I am still using the grips.

Is this the thin length of steel with flat ends? I stuck a strip of foam draught excluder to the back of it.

Re: Physical fitting of new Switches e.g for Hazards (basics)
I have a Variable speed wiper switch and dial fitted to a right angled bracket that is held in place under the dash with two very small nut and bolts. The fittings are not visible unless you lay on the floor and can be removed if necessary. If I remember correctly, there are several such screws alre...

Re: Too much pressure from new fuel pump.
Check that you have the correct pump. There are two types. A high pressure pump that pushes the fuel from the tank, as in a Mini. And a low pressure that pulls the fuel from the tank, as used in the Minor.

Kevin is right. My engine has been in and out several times over the 40 years I have owned her. I find, now the nuts and bolts have been replaced with stainless steel, that it is always easier to take the grill off.

Re: Disc brake conversion
I fitted the Ford based disks in the 1980s. Still on the original pads. They work well and no problems. I think any main stream disk breaks will work well as the minor is not a heavy car.

Re: SU carb dashpot chamber crack
Is it a crack or machining mark? They do not look as if the two are in the same place and the end of the chamber is unmarked. I would think that a blow heavy enough to crack the pot would also deform it in some way.

Re: track rod end failure
At a young tester at a famous garage chain said the the suspension had excessive play when levered with a long metal pole. I pointed out the the suspension on a Morris was rubber mounted. "Oh!" he said. I too have never been back.
