Front brake cylinders / Quality control ?
Overhaulling the front brakes on my pal's Morris ( undergoing a complete restoration ), I sat down with my mug of coffee, to go through the boxes of his new wheel cylinders , flexy pipes, etc. 4 boxes, oulet / inlets suitably plugged to keep dirt out, plastic bagged. So far, so good.Bleed valve fixed...

Re: Which repair panel
Alex'n'Ane No need to remove seat then ! You're lucky...it's usually a case of seeing how big the corresponding hole in the floor pan is !!.A comprehensive restoration plan could then be formulated. Some body up there is looking after you if the rust is very contained and hasn't spread elsewhere.Tim...

Re: Which repair panel
Alex'n'Ane Using Dean's link, Chassis Panels,underside....RP134R should ( ? ) be sufficient. It's very difficult to be sure until the old bit is cut out and you can see how good ...or otherwise ...the adjoining metal is.The welder will need good sound, clean metal to weld to.Most major suppliers woul...

Re: Kick plates/sills?
Mandy To elaborate on Mike's answer there are self tapping screws " inside " the car where the kick plates hook over the bodywork. Gently tap the end of the screwdriver to shock them loose/ get started. Underneath the car,a couple of inches/ 5cm, inboard of the sill finishers you will find...

Re: Cleaning the Engine Bay
You can buy engine degreasant , in spray or liquid form ( brushed on with an old paint brush ) from car accessory places. After leaving for a few minutes, as per the instructions, you can rinse off the muck.A garden hand water spray is good in that it will do spray or jet and you don't have litres o...

Thanks for that Roy ( font of all knowledge..things Morris Minor !! ) your opinion always welcome. My pal has secured a second hand one at a very reasonable price....and a new gasket. The damaged one is in the pile of "surplus parts" for inspection at our leisure , once the car is back on ...

Engine Back plate torque setting ? 1098cc
Hi
Anyone know the torque setting for the back plate please.( I can find the flywheel torque setting.)
The old plate had no gasket fitted and hairline cracks around two bolt holes.

Re: Seam sealant. Where?
Rob Every seam on the car is " potentially " a rust trap waiting to happen......eventually ( it may be a few years ,but ). Unless you are a concours fanantic ( ? ) sealer everywhere on the seams will help stave off the tin worms having a meal. A brushable sealer is good and personally I wo...

Morris Dancers
My youngest grandson aged 3 ( but nearly 4 ) has excellent powers of logic. His Dad related this little tale at Sunday lunch. A week or two ago ,with his parents he had seen Morris Dancers performing outside a pub. On Saturday his Dad pointed out a Morris Minor pick up on the road. Grandson simply s...

Re: rear windows
You will have to be very , very careful trying to remove the rear window seals. The chances of success decreases in relation to how old ( and therefor inflexible ) the rubber has become. There are two metal clips, to help keep the glass in situ, half way up the sides of the rear glass windows. I'd p...

Re: Wipers Want to Work but Wont.
Sam Once the pickling has done it's work can I suggest you temporarily remove the wiper arms. Regrease the cable with fresh grease and put a reasonable size screwdriver through the hole in the connector at the cable end. This will enable you to run the cable back and forth ,as you insert it, as well...
