An addition to the "family"

On Tuesday morning, having travelled up the night before in a rented Self-Drive Transporter, I collected my Series MM Hi-light from the village of West Ashby, just north of Horncastle, not far from Skegness. Loading up[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1374132806_17825 [/frame] Arrived back ...

Re: Spotted today.

Spotted blue LCV on Hawley Road, heading towards Farnborough Rd (A325) on way home yesterday evening - cropped still from Car Cam below (didn't have time to swivel lens around as busy rubbing my eye!).[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1374132277_17825 [/frame] Not seen this one before - any...

Re: Where is it now? KWK 461

Sorry, didn't scan in last night, ran out of time. Have done so now ...[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1374090490_17825 [/frame] Since then, the person that sold it to me, had the plate valued at £1500 (supposedly), but this is only any good if your initials are KWK and the number 461 mea...

Re: Where is it now? KWK 461

KWK 461 is now safely with me in Farnborough, Hampshire. Loading up at the seller's place[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1374046813_17825 [/frame] Arrived outside my house (but a neighbour's parked car stopped me from offloading outside my own place) - getting out of cab[frame] http://mmo...

Re: Spotted today.

Actually spotted yesterday, but was too tired to post the images up. After returning from Linconshire with my latest purchase, and after dropping off the self-drive transporter, I spotted the following on the way home Black Traveller heading towards Horsham at about 5 o'clock (picture taken from car...

Tommy, I'm collecting it next Tuesday. Pictures will follow, then onto new threads, most likely.

Re: Clutch & Gearbox replacement project

Thanks Phil, saves me a short detour to Moss (Europe) on my way home from work to the M3 (Hampton area, West London).
Just have to wait for the ramps to arrive and then the fun will start.

Re: Clutch & Gearbox replacement project

Spare gearbox now put back together. I fitted a spare gearstick and ran through the selection process - all seems OK.[frame] http://mmoc.org.uk/mbimage.php?src=1373442178_17825 [/frame] I filled the gearbox with SAE 30 oil and then ran the main input shaft from my electric drill. Tried all 4 forward...

Re: Where is it now? KWK 461

Tommy, Thanks for your reply. I now happen to be the proud owner of this car - shame that a "newbie" pushed the price up. I think that I must have been the only "prospective" buyer that went to see it - so many people bid without viewing. There are a lot of things that need doing...

Re: Where is it now? KWK 461

Yes I put the back bumper on! I was going to turn her into a lowlight and hope nobody looked at the cchassis number, but it never happened. The original bumper is now painted grey and on the bomb. Well - That was a bit naughty! Fraudulent, at least. I went to see this car and eBay's idea of distanc...

Clutch & Gearbox replacement project - nearly done

After my trials and tribulations on the International Rally Weekend (not as bad as David's broken half-shaft), I realised I also needed a clutch replacement. As the gearbox was a bit whiney, I've decided to replace both at the same time - by dropping the box out from under the car. When I bought my ...

Re: Morris Minors whereabouts

I've checked the numbers on the Transport for London on-line congestion charge payment page (which is another way of finding if the number is on any other car) and both reg numbers drew a blank. They were most likely scrapped and that DVLA would have laid claim to the numbers for possible auction sa...

Re: Cornbury Park - Catering Vans or the lack of!

The people/firms that do catering these days use the modern vans. They have the space and are purpose built to house deep fat fryers grills etc and have the necessary extractors required by the food hygiene laws. Nice "period" vans may be more in keeping with a Morris Rally but would not ...

Auto darkening helmet, fire retardant overalls, steel toe-cap boots (required PPE) - all were bought for the welding course. The auto-darkening helmet is fantastic!

Re: Replacing underside of door

BMC, thank you for the additional info. The tutor also suggested that I would be better off with 0.8mm wire and we tried the existing set-up with a 0.8 nozzle before we found out that the preloaded wire was a bit "bent". He let me keep the nozzle and said I might as well use up the 0.6 wir...

Re: Replacing underside of door

If you see spot welds - you need to drill them out. That door doesn't look too bad - you sure you want to butcher it ?? :-? Well BMC, you weren't the only one with that opinion. I dragged all my own stuff down to college - Cebora 130 Mig Welder (s/h), angle grinder, ESM door panels and the door. Tw...

Replacing underside of door

Hello Folks, I have 2 welding classes left to go on my evening course and I was going to take in my spare passenger door (tonight), that requires the underpanel to be replaced. Finally got it out of the shed and had a look again, now that I have got the 2 bottom pieces from ESM (base and "riser...

Re: It was the Coil or so we thought!

Yes Roy, I know its just "branded" Lucas as Elta Lighting have the licence rights to use the name.
The one that gave me the original problems was/is a real Delco-Remy unit. Regards, George.

The autojumble £5 cleaned up coil is now laying on the driver's side parcel shelf as the "spare" (just in case).
