Thanks Theo. What year is yours, and was this the original layout or was a regulator box removed?

Re: Bulkhead wiring arrangement
Thanks Mike, that would really be appreciated. Bob, sounds like the voice of experience, are you able to recommend a good supplier for the new loom? Jack/Chesney - I didn't know that AP Travs were positive earth, or that they had regulator boxes. Mine is neg earth, so may not be a factory alternator...

Bulkhead wiring arrangement
I've just started stripping out my engine bay. It's a late Traveller (71, Adderley Park with factory alternator) but the wiring appears to be heavily bodged. You'll see in my photo that it has the fuse box and no regulator, which is fine, but surely the choc block to the left of the fuse box isn't s...

Look at the quality of his work in his other videos (the door one's not too bad). Definitely not our Welsh mechanical perfectionist....

Shot/bead blasting
I've decided to have the wings, doors and bonnet on my Trav shotblasted while they are off - easier to handle than the shell, which I'll strip myself. Does anyone know anyone reliable for this work within reasonable reach of Leeds? And what medium would you specify for these panels? I'll probably ge...

Re: Is there a complete chronological list of all changes?
Boomlander is correct about the Lindsay Porter book, but you might find it listed under "The Haynes Restoration Manual: Morris Minor and 1000". Don't buy it for the restoration advice, though - it was good in its day, but much more detail and better pictures on the Resto section of this si...

Re: morris 1962 2 door
It was quite disheartening enough having to compare my efforts with those of Neil MG and Taupe. This level of perfectionism is completely beyond my reach, makes me feel like packing up completely. Anyone interested in a second hand welder and a half finished Traveller?

Gear lever removal
I'm about to remove my engine and box, but I've read dire warnings about not dropping the anti rattle plunger and spring into the casing when removing the lever. What's the removal sequence to avoid this? I assume this applies to all plungers (haven't looked yet to see if there's one or two) includi...

Re: how's your legs??
I also had to do some fettling of the legs (the were too long at the rear where it braces against the centre X member) and I cut back about 2-3mm if I recall. I did get the cheapest legs though though, so I guess I paid the price later. Just been looking at leg prices. ESM (Hadrian) & Bull Moti...

Re: how's your legs??
I remember a mate back in the sixties repairing the bottom of a leg with structural grade chicken wire, bodyfiller and lashings of underseal. Think MOT testers were a bit less diligent back then.

Phil, with the incredibly knowledgeable contributions you make elsewhere, you are more than welcome to ramble on a bit! Can't contribute anything to the naval history theme, but there is a defence industry angle as the young draughtsman standing with the MM Tourer at the beginning of this thread eve...

Re: MM Tourer - where it all began...
Enjoying this thread. :-) So am I - Dad always did like to get a discussion going! We only made it to Wales once, when he did get his own car in about 1958. That was a 1939 Hillman Minx and we were grateful it made it from Preston, Lancs all the way to Rhyll and back. South Wales was well out of ra...

Re: RP134 floor edge repair??
The floor edge extension which is now a repair panel was originally part of the floor pressing, with spot welds to the foot of the sill step. So the part you haven't done looks to have been replaced previously. There isn't a right and wrong way of doing this repair, but the purists like the floor pa...

Re: Traveller wood
The greatest stress on the floor structure won't be near the front wheels, it will be around the B post and centre cross member area, as it acts as a cantilever rearwards of here unless braced by the timber frame. You are correct that a convertible is weaker here and places greater reliance on the s...

Re: Traveller wood
Its not a rigid chassis, its a monocoque structure. High risk of deforming, strong possibility of stress fractures. Without the timber it would be as bendy as a clown car!
