Re: Front hubs and wheel bearings
Hi Roy, yes the bearing has collapsed, I managed to get the inner race off of the stub axle, eventually. I'm thinking if one side of the car is bad, then the other is likely to be the same.

Front hubs and wheel bearings
Hi Chaps, what is the likelihood of the front wheel bearings and seal being left on the stub axle when trying to remove the hub? Neither the Haynes manual or the BMC manual detail how to remove the bearings from the hub. Should the bearing spacer be a floating fit inside the hub, allowing the rear b...

Broken gearboxes, any useful parts?
Hi Chaps,
are there any useful parts inside a naff gearbox? I have one completely kn*ckered 1098 gearbox and another that jumps out of forth.
Are they worth dismantling, even just for the experience?
Cheers

Speedometers and the new MOT test
Hi Chaps, Can anyone tell me if and how the speedometer is tested on the new MOT test? Since changing the gearbox for a Ford Type 9 the speedometer is wildly erratic and I have been checking the speed using a satnav. Now the MOT test has changed and the requirement is for the speedo to be fitted and...

Differences in HIF carburettor builds
Hi Chaps, Can anyone tell me if there is a difference in the build standard between HIF 44 carbs? According to the Burlen website, the carb for an Ital is the FZX 1306, but the tag on my carb is stamped FZX 1409, which is the carb from a '82 onwards 1300 Metro. The carb has a throttle quadrant inste...

Re: Morris Ital A+ engine number
The engine number is required for the insurance. The car has been modified (again) and my old company won't insure the car, and the new company require a modified vehicle report detailing the modification state of the vehicle.

Re: Estimated speed for a 1275 A+ Engine
The gearbox was replaced with the engine due to the fact that I had one and the fitting kit in the garage for another project. The original minor gearbox was knackered and kept jumping out of fourth. Changing the cam in the 1275 A+ is a real pain in the bum, and not likely to be on the cards for a w...

Estimated speed for a 1275 A+ Engine
Hi Chaps, can anyone tell me the expected speeds I can see from a 1275 A+ engine running through a Ford Type 9 'box? The engine is modified from standard with a big valve 940 cylinder head, K&N pancake air filter, LCB exhaust, running through a Ford gearbox and (currently) a standard 1098 4022 r...

Morris Ital A+ engine number
Hi Chaps, Don't know if this is the right area of the forum for this but can anyone confirm the correct engine number prefix for an Ital A + engine. I'm not sure if the prefix for the engine should read 12V923EH4 or if it should be 12VEHZ. Can any Ital engine owners confirm the correct prefix? Regar...

I'm not fussed about the engine being a 950, I knew someone who said they could walk faster than her standard 803 4 door

Rear Floor Panels
Hi Chaps,
A quick question regarding replacement body panels. Do the replacement rear 1/4 floor panels that companies like ESM etc include the spring hanger mounts?
Regards

UJG 275H History
Hi Chaps, Does anyone know of the history of my 1969/70 4 door minor? I've owned the car since November 2008 and am the 8th owner. She was put back into roadworthy condition in about 2008, and the 1098 engine and gearbox were replaced in 2012 with a 1275 Ital A+ unit and a Ford 5 speed box. From the...

940 Cylinder Head
Hi Chaps,
Is it possible, from casting numbers etc, to identify if a 12G940 head has unleaded valve seats or not?
The head in question is a big valve 940 which I believe, but can't be sure was from a Metro.
Cheers

Re: 803 Gearbox
Double declutching is fine, I became accustomed to it when my 1098 had the standard 4 speed box.
