Wouldn't a firmly-applied handbrake keep it as a one-man job?

Re: Spark plug gap information request.

I seem to remember that aftermarket electronic ignition manufacturers always tended to recommend an increase from the standard 25 thou to 30 thou which, allegedly, gave a more complete, cleaner burn. Got to be worth a try I would have thought.

Yes, they did a gearbox re-build for me and what they don't know about Minors probably isn't worth knowing. Certainly worth having a chat with them about what you want done.

Just like 'eco' - both weasel words used by unscrupulous people with an agenda and/or something to sell.

Re: Vibration.

Thanks for the clarification Phil; you lives 'n' learns. So, it now appears that I've been barking up the wrong tree for, essentially, all my motoring life insofar as I've always depressed the clutch when starting an engine, especially from cold and in the winter, on the basis that doing so removes ...

The engine will reduce in revs when the clutch pedal is depressed.
Pardon my ignorance Phil but why should that be? My own expectation would have been for the revs to rise as the slight load of the gearbox was removed. Clearly not the case but I can't really fathom it.

Re: Radiator Blind

Many years ago I too had concerns about the cool running of the cars I had at the time. After experimenting with various sizes of pieces of blanking (hardboard, cardboard, whatever) I eventually got tired of having to quickly release the bonnet latch, bail out of the car, nip round to the front and ...

Re: Wot No Garage

You can keep one outside under a cover successfully but you have to be meticulous about it, check under the cover(s) at least weekly and strip it/them off to let the car 'breathe' if there's any sign of damp. Despite what they may claim in their adverts, no covers are waterproof, certainly not after...
