Re: Traveller sliding glass seal

I didn't attempt it with the glass fitted but while I was fitting a new wood frame I fitted new seals. I found that prising with thin screw driver pushed up between the seal and the metal frame did the job easily. A smear of red rubber grease helped push the glass and the new seal in nicely. https:/...

Re: Cleaning agent

I've used Ariel washing powder and hot water in various plastic screen wash and header tanks. Left over night it does a pretty good job. If it's rusty stains then you could also try a spoon full of citric acid if the washing powder doesn't work.

Great stuff Sugru. The little door bump stops I made (before my last post) for my Commer camper are still there and intact, can't believe it's over seven years ago :o

Re: Which air filter for HIF38 carb?

Yes I did fit a K&N element, I borrowed it out of my Mini Cooper when it was off the road for resto. Now the Mini is back up and running I've fitted an ordinary paper element in the Minor until I find a reasonably priced K&N (they are around £50 new). They are a performance add on and with s...

I've started using Harley Wax, pure carnauba wax. Goes on like melted butter and polishes up lovely :tu1:

Re: Which air filter for HIF38 carb?

Yes that's the one. I left the hole open where I cut the inlet off, you don't really need the extra holes but as I'd fitted a K&N element I thought the extra air flow would be beneficial. This set up has been proven by Keith Calver to be more efficient than a K&N cone and it's a lot quieter ...

Re: Which air filter for HIF38 carb?

I'm pretty sure that air box will foul on the fuel pump and maybe the battery.
I used a standard Mini air box but cut the inlet tract off and drilled a couple more holes on the outside to allow a bit more air in. You will also need a matching elbow to fit the filter

Re: Hassle verses No hassle !

I did the same and bought a new pump after failing to get the original pump working properly with an overhaul kit, turned out expensive :-? As for squirreling away stuff that will come in handy one day - I'm in the process of re-arranging my garage/workshop and embarrassed with some of the absolute ...

Re: Work on van

My traveller was bumped a few years ago and sounds like similar damage to yours. It was repaired without complaint from the insurance company, I just needed to get a couple of estimates and an assessor came to have a look. I did have the culprits details though and he admitted full liability. https:...

Re: Pictures

The damage to the Nissan looked superficial, just a scuff on the plastic 'bumper' but underneath - well. Later on I phoned the guy to get some further details from him, he was in A&E and had just come out of X-ray - wrist broken in three places :o You can see in the skid marks where he hit me. h...

Nissan Joke. It was one of those that pulled out and hit me when I was on my way to the tip in Ted the traveller. The result was a new wing needed for Ted, a knackered steering system for the Juke rendering it undriveable and a broken wrist for the driver :-? I've has an unnatural hatred of the Niss...

Re: Wider wheels or widened wheels ?

I fitted 5 1/2" re-hooped wheels and fitted them with 165/70/14 tyres which are the same diameter as the original tyres that were fitted. The car felt great and gripped very well with no noticeable extra heaviness to the steering. Unfortunately I had to remove them as I found cracking between t...
