Re: 1953 (March) Series II Restoration

I re painted needle on my tourer an when I went to start it after its rebuild I had no oil pressure, this was a couple of issues the first one being that the paint had stuck the needle to the stop!! A knackered oil pump was another cause but at least when the glass was taken off the gauge the needle...

Re: 1953 (March) Series II Restoration

Its amazing the way the grease can dry out and harden. The tourer Ive been working on was the same, also the wiper wheel boxes were seized partly due to corrision and also the fact they had been painted over!

Keep up the great work!

Re: 1953 (March) Series II Restoration

Was that the car that was on Ebay? It looked excellent and a great find! Avery early series 11 as weill, does it have the square axle? There is a Juy 53 4 door about a mile from me with only 14000 odd miles on it, its in fantastic orignal condtion. This one probably has the old MM type brake cylinde...

Re: 1956 Low Light???

Back in the day when hand written log book changes were the norm it was ok to use the Irish number and this continued for many years. The Irish Government clamped down on numbers being sold when a Z only plate was sold for an extreme amount of money. Now if you have a car with an Irish number unless...

Re: 1956 Low Light???

Id suggest it was first registered in Mainland GB in 56, ZE is an old southern Irish number plate. From the blurry photo it looks like a proper short beonnet car and on DVLA page it says 918cc.

This has reminded me that my copy of Minor Matters hasnt arrived yet!

Re: Crystals in waterways

I had this build up in my Austin 10 in the aluminum waterways (almost completely blocking it) when there was no antifreeze in it, doesnt seem to happen with the old blue type anti freeze in it.

Re: New Purchase!!

Some more progress lately, tipped on its side to scrape off some old body scutz that I dont like and also to sort out a few areas that needed some tidying up. Thankfully no rot! We also made some pressings in the floor as at some point its been fitted with a flat steel floor section which flexed ann...

Re: Lowlight with demister vents?

John, I would estimate that they came in around April 1950. My March 1950 tourer doesnt have vents but the May 1950 saloon does!
