Re: Bi-plane
On a similar theme, I heard an unusual engine a few days back and using the flight radar app on my phone discovered the plane overhead was an Antonov propellor plane of some description. I looked it up at the time and it looked like something from the 1970's. Why it was in the skies over Lancashire ...

Re: Mg Midget 1275 gearbox rebuild
I had the gearbox on the bench this evening to see if I could get it back together. Yes it all went back together, up to a point. I was wary of attempting to select the gears as a trial run without the selectors in place so I waited until they were in before I slipped the box into first. Then "...

Re: Panda Cars
As a serving officer with GMP, I had a keen interest in the Stockport striped Morris Minors but could not find any other information on why they were painted as such. I have a model which displays double sided "POLICE COURTESY PATROL" sign on the roof, but again no evidence of any such pat...

Re: Tuning woes
Have you confirmed the timing is correct?
You mention backfiring, that usually points to a timing issue.

Re: Gearbox tailshaft bush
My 1098 propellor shaft measures 1.1875" or 30.16mm where it enters the gearbox.
Hope this helps.

Re: Midget 1275 gearlever
This is the MG Midget gearlever from my 1275 gearbox.
The lower shaft is approx 13mm long, I think the earlier shaft was shorter.

Re: Midget 1275 gearlever
I believe there are two midget gear levers the early smooth case and the later ribbed case.
The later lever is interchangeable with the Morris Minor item and is slightly longer.
I will try get some measurements as I have a midget gear lever on my gearbox.

Your gearbox may be slightly different as mine is an MG Box but the principal is the same.

Re: Gear Stick Retaining Plate
Hello could anyone tell me 1st why is there 4 holes in the retaining plate that holds the gear stick into the gear box and 2nd why does it not line up and correspond with the 4 holes on the gear box. If you have got the slot in the right orientation so the slot runs in line with the gear box then y...

Re: "Gracie" Dove grey 1965 2 door saloon.
Its been a while since I gave any update, so here goes. I have now almost welded one complete side of Gracie, it has taken me ages as I'm learning as I go along but enjoying every minute in the garage. Some parts have also made their way into my possession such as a 1275 midget engine and head, 1275...

Re: Marina disc brake conversion question
Phil Thanks for the reply and information,. From what you say I may try for the marina set up, are the Marina stub axles readily available and what machining do they require? I will be carrying a lot of weight on the rear so the bigger drums may be the way to go as on some of the classic car trials ...

Marina disc brake conversion question
Hi all I have literally just missed out on a marina front disc brake conversion, all for the sake of £5, which makes me mad. I did manage to blag a front and rear telescopic damper kit along with a front anti roll bar for silly money so that goes some way to making up for missing the brakes. Anyway ...

Mike
I sympathise with you, I'm going through the same thing with my 65 Minor.
Have a look at my short videos showing the bodges on my car and the amount of rust I have encountered.
My car had an MOT when it came into my possession.

I seem to recall the mini fan blows the air through the radiator rather than suck it as would be the case on a Minor.

KVA 699E is also shown as being insured on the Motor Insurance Database.
It's out there somewhere, maybe a request for information on a few of the classic car forums may prove fruitful.

I have worked out the shims should reside behind the bellhousing bearing cover plate so I can now calculate the sizes for the new shims.
Just the thrust washer or lack of to contend with now.
