Did the original Morris Minor column cover fit over the switch you fitted ? Paul Humphries Paul, I ended up with a Merc stalk off Ebay which does indicators and wipers in one stalk. This fits with the help of a big jubilee clip and half a bit of aluminium pipe to take the pressure of the clip off t...

I had a similar thing last week. Last years MOT was the old-fashioned type, this years at the same place could not go ahead because the computer insisted on the chassis number. (Rusty plate disappeared years' ago.) Only option is to get it from the V5 which I hadn't brought with me so have to go bac...

I doubt it but i'll ask just in case
Is it possible for the flasher unit to 'fail' in such a way that right indicator works but when indicating left all four indicator lights flash as if in hazard mode? Because that's what has started happening. I guess it's either the indicator stalk or the flasher unit but not the wires as that would...

Nothings impossible but some engines are more suitable than others. If there is no RWD gearbox with the same bolt pattern as your FWD engine then you have to get an adaptor plate made (ker-ching!). Most Ford engines and gearboxes have the same bolt pattern whether FWD or RWD which makes things easie...

Thanks one and all. I'll have to discount the, 'do you want to be seen behind the wheel of...', argument as I'll end up walking everywhere :) Want proof - start your own thread and ask what car everyone likes? and before you come back to me with 'Minor', I'll want consensus on which body type, year ...

Old Mercedes diesels
Hi, very off-topic this but can anyone advise whether 1980s/1990s Mercedes's are easy to work on? To expand on 'easy to work on' I mean easy to work on in the street with the normal range of tools one might use for the Minor. I'm researching my next daily driver as the current one is an expensive mi...

As an update, I got the new (used) arm apart to find that one of the commutators had arced and had a resistive coating of something. The arcing wasn't because the windscreen wiper current was to high but because I'd managed to short a wire. Cleaned everything up and all is okay. Still have to figure...

Thanks all. Rogerrust I think I might have a different kit to you. maplins didn't have the wiper delay kit but did have a general delay timer. It has one 10A relay and two adjusters (screwdriver adjustable variable resistors), one for length of power pulse and one for delay. There are 5 lead connect...

Non standard indicator/wiper/light stalks
Do later Mini stalks fit a Minor easily or is there another particular set that fits well? And while I'm at it, does the wiper parking circuit only connect when the switch is switched off or is it always connected? Might seem an odd question but I have made a little circuit (Velleman kit from Maplin...

Probably a long shot but I wonder if the Hindustan Ambassador brakes were/are the same as the Wolseley/Riley ones. I think they have front disks now but they certainly were drums all round at one point and perhaps still are for the domestic market... http://www.merlingarages.co.uk/home.htm Might hav...
